I finally started working on the Ole MJ again. Miraculously, whatever issue was making her not start has resolved itself. She sat with that tarp on and pallet for over a year. I didn't touch anything at all and now she starts! The driver side hood latch doesn't match up, though. I'm going to see if the frame is bent (if it is, I give up). Being wrecked seems to have knocked the front end off kilter. Hopefully it's just the body.

I set aside some time to use my multimetre to test all the wires and figure out what needed replacing, then I remembered that the multimetre was in the truck when it was stolen and was not returned with the vehicle. Cue the trombone (whomp whomp).

Geez, there are two things stopping me. One, I hadn't decided what colour I want for all my interior (I have plans to redo the carpet and reupholster or replace the seats), and I'm also super poor. Mostly the first one, though. What are the available colours? Also, is it possible to ship to PO boxes? I live in Canada, but I have a US PO box.

Is it better than redoing the original panel or just easier? Or does it depend? Do I need to take mine apart and look at it before I know if it's necessary?

OK, that makes more sense. Now I see why it's $115, lol. Seems like a good deal.

I need a headliner. I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but is this just fabric and foam adhesive? I have never fixed/replaced a headliner before.

Aw, that's so great. I love seeing kids get really into hobbies. Better than tv and video games! I have actually tried to get my 8 year old son on board, too, but he's just not into it. Today I bought an xj and when I pulled up in front of the house she came running out, but here's her face when she realized it's not a red Wrangler. She got used to it though. Just had to take her for a drive.

I could probably fit 6 or 7 in my driveway but seeing as how mine was stolen from my driveway less than two weeks ago and last night there were a dozen police officers crawling all over my block, in the alley, and yes, in my driveway with their guns out, I sort of wonder if it's space is the issue. Oh yeah, and this morning, the door of my Comanche was open. Not much I can do seeing as how the windows were smashed out. Alright, that was a little off topic, but seriously, I'm moving mine to a friend's place to work on it.

I have it in good authority that girls don't like men acting like they own them (unless they have mental issues and like being fought over for the attention). The fact that the brother is possessive is hugely unimpressive. How about instead of threatening him, remind him that your girlfriend is an autonomous human being with a brain who can be in whatever relationship she wants. This is why single ladies in bars will say they have a boyfriend even if they don't, because her saying no isn't enough, but a man will respect the other man and not cross that boundary, even if he isn't present. I think she should be the one knocking her brother into next week. Maybe just verbally, though.

So my 6-year-old daughter started asking me about Jeeps and I started pointing them out to her. Now she gets all excited when she sees one and she's begging me to buy a red Wrangler. I'm so proud. Also, now I have an excuse to buy a Wrangler. It's for the children. Isn't this the cutest little Jeeper? Maybe she needs a set of wrenches for Christmas. She wants to help me work on my Comanche, too. Anyone else let their kids help? How old did you get them started?

So I got the hood off and this is my interim replacement. Pretty sweet, right? Damn my amazing fab skills, I amaze myself.

The more I look into it, the more I'm leaning toward fixing parts rather than getting donor parts. With the except of the hood and doors. The windows are smashed and the rolling mechanism was broke on both sides anyway, so now that they're dented too it seems like it'd be way less hassle to just get new doors.

I removed the nest and the wires look ok, but obviously one of them isn't working. Oh yeah, and the signal lights don't work. Well, they work... they both turn on when I step on the brake, but they don't signal.

My MJ was stolen and crashed (more info on that and pics in the build thread here). I drove it home from the impound, so it definitely started then. Today I took the hood off and now it won't even turn over, just clicks. There is power to the dash and lights, but it won't start. The battery was damaged, (smushed-in corner and leaking), but replacing it didn't do the trick. The starter relay was pushed back by the battery and I'm thinking something in that area may have been pinched, damaged, or something else, but I can't see what the problem could be. I'm new at this, so sorry if it's obvious, but maybe you guys could give me some ideas on what I should try. Damage to the battery It looks fine, but the battery had been shoved on top of the starter relay and the bracket holding it in place was bent. This nest was also there? Or whatever this stuff is?

I feel like this situation is going to make it all the more satisfying to look back and see where I came from when it's all fixed up. One thing at a time.

What's the best way to go about fixing this? Should I make a post in the tech section? I found a potential donor: link

I take mine through drive-thru all the time. Gotta have my Timmy's. Yeah, I drink coffee, work the radio, and drive stick :). I love my manual in all situations. Anyone who's driven my MJ comments on how nice the transmission is, especially for its age.

Whoops, posted twice.

Well, she still runs. The battery was pushed over by the crunched hood and the fan hits in the hit (and something else... I can't actually open the hood yet). I'm just wondering what's next and where to start. I need a donor now, right?

Well it's been found. Someone drove it into a mailbox and the front end is all messed up. I don't have it back yet, because the police weren't done processing it before I had to go to work. I can't pick it up until tomorrow, but I drove by the police impound lot and saw it from a distance. The hood is basically bent in half. Other than that I can't really see. It's 3 am and I'm currently snooping around the impound lot (just got off work). Better just go home and try not to think about it. The topper is also gone, but I don't know if the police removed it or it was stolen. They said the driver side window was smashed, too. Yeah, I think she earned the name Hurtin' Albertan.

Well, my Comanche was stolen out of my driveway tonight. Not happy.

I was stopped next to another Comanche at a stop light yesterday and I tried to give the guy a thumbs up but he wouldn't look over. :( Could have honked, but I didn't want to be annoying.
