Well, my luck caught up to me saturday morning around 530ish. Coming through a intersection in Mooresville and an HHR decided that she wanted to introduce my Jeep to a light pole. Basicly I went to the left to avoid her, she didn't even flinch, hit me in the right rear corner, turned me around and a nice solid light pole decided that I had went far enough and stopped me in my tracks. Tiff and me are ok, just sore and pissed off. Damage report.....bed is done....both axles are bent....not sure if the axle housing is bent or not but I wouldn't doubt it. I've got a Ford 8.8 with 3:73LS/31 spline axles/disk brakes at a friend of mines in S.C. and I'm on the hunt for a long bed and have a few leads on a bed. The good news from it all is both flares are ok, both taillights are ok and there appears to be no frame damage. The only thing I didn't get a pic of is the inner bed on the drivers side, it's bent and pushed in like 3-4 inches. Anyways....here's the pics. And the damage to the axles, if you can tell in the pics... Pass. side Drivers side -Cody

I had the same idea to put these fenders on mine, but mainly b/c I wanted alittle more clearance and my bed sides are kinda rusting out so I gotta replace at least part of them so I figured replace rust with something that won't rust. Heck my last truck had pretty much a full fiberglass bed so worrying about the bedsides crackin isn't a big worry for me. -Cody

NICE!! Lol, looks better than mine does, mines a 1gal coolant jug, but hey short of the rear main seal, I don't have oil puddles anymore :clapping: . And it's funny b/c you were on the interstate, I've yet to take mine on one yet, I think the alignment might kill me, plus all the idiots around here not sure if the truck is ready for it yet. -Cody

Well good news, went to pull-a-part yesterday to pull a slip yoke from the XJ that I snatched alot of other stuff from. Well just like that perfect MJ I found the XJ was long gone, but found one near by with a perfect slip yoke, got it for pretty cheap and put it in the truck. So far so good, haven't really seen any leaks, but the truck has also been settin pretty much all weekend b/c I've had moms little XJ running arrons and what not. And yeah the old yoke had some issues goin on, I think that it may have been bent or something b/c since I swapped them my vibration problem went away. Cody

Well I do have a question that I just though about, will a AX-5 and an AX-15 slip yoke interchange? I just happened to remember that the XJ that I yanked the clutch setup and interior from was a 92-94 2wd and a 5spd. but I think that it's a 2.5 so if I'm thinkin right then it's an ax-5. If I can get it figured out then I know if it's worth my time to drive 25-30 mins to go the the yard and pull the yoke out of it. -Cody

That's what I'm thinking that it is, the only thing is I went and got a new one that fit but it was long and bottoms out, I trimed it down and it fit but was a really snug fit, almost to the point of wouldn't turn. If I could just find a slip yoke that came from a 2wd AX-15 It would be great......but around here it's kinda hard to come by, and I don't have alot of extra money just sittin around. The slip yoke I was told to use was a Chevy Turbo 350 slip yoke, that's what I put in it but like I said it didn't want to turn by hand once it went into the tail shaft. -Cody

Ok, not meaning to dig up a old post but it's still doin it and startin to get worst. I've redone the seal a few times and nothing seems to help. I was told by someone that there is some sort of inner seal of some sort that if it fails then the tail shaft seal has no chance of holding back the fluid. The only other thing that I noticed with it is that when the slip yoke slides into the tailshaft it seems like it bottoms out on what looks like a metal ring, but didn't know if that means anything or could be causing my issues. Any help would be great, but I got a bad feelin that the tranny is gonna have to come out again, and of course I just moved and all I have is a gravel driveway.....yippie.. :ack: . Anyways, if anyone knows anything please let me know, $6 rear seals and $6 bottles of fluid adds up to as much as rent every month, not to mention fluid getting on the exhaust pipes smokes and reaks when I park or stuck in traffic. -Thanks yall, Cody

Lookin good, yeah I did a close type of fix for my oil issue, but I've got a antifreeze bottle on the other side...but hey there's no more oil all over the place. BTW: you still got that old lift setup layin around? hehehe, I'm lookin for something cheap just to get it alittle higher, I tried some little coil spacers...yeah that worked for like a day, oh well. Anyways I was just curious b/c I'm not that far from S.C. figured maybe make a road trip and buy ya lunch :brows: -Cody -
Ditto on the flares and I had the same issue with the bumper, but I lucked out and found a chrome bumper that has just a light dusting on the inside but is good and strong. Trust me when the plans start comin to ya you're gonna start remembering all of those Jeeps that you'd seen in all those junk yards over the years....there's like 2 or 3 down the road from me that have been in the yards for years lol.

Nice lookin MJ man, I looked at that thing like a dozen times on CL, but didn't have the cash to pick it up. Yeah we've got a handfull of us in the area, there's a few MJ's runnin around town but never catch anyone parked so I can try and get them on the site. But you've got a great truck to start out with, did you check your floors for any rust yet? I picked mine up on the NC/SC state line, hauled it home and riped the carpet out to find some lift rust. I think it's Jeff that always says to pull the carpet before it's to late.....those are some words of wisdom. But most of all.....WELCOME TO THE CLUB. :waving: -Cody

I did mine useing the factory MJ floor brackets bolted to the XJ "rocker" style seat frame, wasn't hard to do, I like it b/c it feels like I'm sittin lower than the same buckets that are in my moms XJ. But that's just me I'm used to low trucks, I've got all the pics and what not if anyone needs any info. -Cody

Yeah I took them out of the bed and put them in the truck to get rid of the bench that was in there, but I'm thinkin about findin another set to mount in the rear. *update* Bucket seats are in the truck along with the center console, the interior is all there and doesn't match at all....lol....oh well. I love the bucket seats, forgot how good it feels to lean back in a seat while driving. Might try and mess with an intake on the truck today, just kinda depends. Went to the Auto Fair this morning and walked like 6 or 7 miles lookin at cars and random parts......I wanted an air horn....but the girlfriend said no and pulled me away from it :( . -Cody -

Just a few shots from today...don't have the time right now to put the seats inside the truck, so I had alittle fun with them. I've got a car show tonight anyways so I figured why not have a nice seat while there. My tall freakin shifter, lol I kinda like it more and more everyday... And my new clutch master cylinder... It's kinda funny b/c the seats match alittle better to the outside than the inside :dunno: , oh well. -Cody -

Well I found out the hard way that those seats don't just bolt into place, so I guess that I'll try the swaping of the bench brakets to the buckets and try my best to do a write up on it. But all the clutch stuff in installed and seems to be working just fine, just gotta bleed it again. :ack: -Cody -

No, would not have drove that far for her. I got this one right one the NC/SC state line. *Update* Went to Pull-a-Part today, picked up a new (internal setup) clutch master cylinder, clutch fluid line, a set of bucket seats, and a full center console with brackets for everything. Ended up costin right around $60 for it all. I'll get some pics up tomorrow when I get everything put in and together. -Cody -
No biggie, I went to Pull-a-part and I'm mad b/c the MJ that was in mint shape was gone, but I found a nice little two door '93ish XJ that's a 5spd. Got the slave res/line all the way to the slave cyl., the center console and both seats with brackets for around $60 for everything. Time to start puttin it all in :brows: . -Cody

Would one in a '87/'88 2.8L 5spd/4x4 MJ interchanged with one in a '88 4.0 MJ? And also would a hose from a '94/'95 XJ fit into a '88 MJ? Mine died again and I'm tired of patchin it together so I'm tryin to think about my options before callin dodge. -Cody

could no vent cause that though?
-
Alright, got alittle issue that's startin to get alittle costly and ugly around the house. I finished the AX-15 swap but now I have a little issue. The tailshaft is leaking wear the driveshaft slides into it. I've replaced the seal and it helped alittle but still leaks. At six dollars and something a bottle gear oil is startin to cost me and all the little spots are driving me and everybody else in the house nuts. I got the seal for a '94 XJ, as that is what the tranny came out of, but like I said it just slowed it down, not stoped it. My question is, would pressure in the tranny cause that? There's not a pressure vent/breather on the tranny and I don't think that the shifter has any kinda vent on it either. Am I missin something or am I gonna have to tear something out again? Thanks yall, -Cody

Put a headliner in it today, doesn't match anything, but it looks a ton better than the old one that was stapled to the old liner. ;) -

Lifted the carpet out of it, this much rust and $300 don't think I can be upset.... Drivers Pass Part of the problem, it had only been sittin there for like 5mins, and notice the stream of water.. I've sanded it down, put a coat of truck liner on it, but had some issues with it, so I'm in the process of doing it over again. -Cody -
Harsher will be fine, heck the front sags so much now it aint even funny, besides I'm used to a stiff setup. :clapping: Yay, junkyard time, hehehe.

I didn't think about it till now but I do have a to do list, but I guess I forgot to share, anyways: Basics: Fix the bed sides Finish fixin the floor Get the thing runnin decently good again Put the carpet back in it '97+ Front end/Body work/paint Headlight harness upgrade/fog lights Fun Stuff: Lift (3-5 inches)/33's/Micky Thompson Classic II's 4wd swap....on down the road aways Bucket Seats/Full length center console Radio/speakers Upgrade all the lights inside and out Build new 4.0, with the intentions to turbo it I have a crazy idea for the bed, but really doubt it'll ever happen Some type of roof rack setup I'm pretty sure I'm missin some stuff, but that's all I can think of right now. I need to get a better job so I can jump on some deals that I've been finding. There's a guy in town with a complete 4.0 H.O. that has a blow headgasket that's already been pulled out for $120. But yeah there's been other deals but you know what I'm sayin. -Cody -
Will Ford coils work in our trucks? I know the Rangers will, but will the fullsizes (F-150/250/350) fit in there? If so I gotta go dig through a couple local yards :brows: -Cody
