For those that have a Ford 8.8
ocskipper replied to Codycobra84's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well...nothing I guess. It was slower than a dog with stock radials and now with the new rubber it is even worse. I was just looking for a little added power and through reading other posts, gearing seemed to be my answer. -

That was my thinking. I have the 2.5L 4 speed manual 2wd and am trying to build a little prerunner. How important are the 4.88 gears or will what the 8.8 comes with be good enough? p.s. i am running about 3" of lift and 31" tires -

Ok, How about the sencond one. Are the parts good? What would be a reasonable offer? I was thining around $400.00 for axle, gears, perches, pads, and shock tabs. I am pretty sure thats everything I need other than the parking brake fix. Also, how hard is it to install the gears? -
Parking/Tail light issues
ocskipper replied to GreenF350's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I was aware of the ground in the left rear tail light but not under the dash. Where is it under there? :dunno: -
Thanks, I am going to try a pair.

Parking/Tail light issues
ocskipper replied to GreenF350's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
if it's the light switch, wouldn't the headlights NOT work? i've been having the same problem and also haven't had time to diagnose yet. and then every once in awhile it will stop popping fuses. Same problem over here, it drives me crazy! :headpop: I think I am just going to replace the sockets and grounds, I am not much of an electrician otherwise I would just rewire the lights. Any experiences with this? -

I am looking to add a D44 or 8.8 myself to give the ol' 2.5L and little added kick with the bigger tires. I found a few, but the price just does not seem right. :shake: What does everybody think? http://sandiego.craigslist.org/ssd/pts/1168952038.html http://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/pts/1166169385.html -
The rear shock are out of stock. Are they any different from the front?
-
Front end is lifted about 3 inches and I need new shocks. Any links to a good shock at a good price? Thanks, Skip :USAflag:

...good to know. I am replacing my power steering pressure hose and lines tonite so I will check to see if one is plugged in. I am tearing the ac out of the manch so if it ends up being that it will go in the trash.

 Awesome, I can't wait to see the pictures. I was thinking of doing the same thing and rolling/spraying my whole truck but was not liking the way the spray was turning out at all. I am rust free but do not have the nice shiny paint job. I think I am going to give the roll on herculiner a shot.

No, I mean wheel spacers. I already lifted it, I need to keep the larger tires from rubbing the sway bar link when fully turned by pushing the tire out an inch or two.
-
I want to add 1" - 2" wheel spacers to accomodate the 31's. Do i need to get an alignment after the spacers?
-
...Someone always has the answer. Thanks for all the help guys!

Anybody use one that they are happy with? I want to spray my bed, my fenders, bumpers, and the lower portion of my body but havent found one I like. I a few spray on's and they werent as textured as i would like and it puddles up no matter how light your coat is, it doesnt seem to come oout of the can evenly. Pics would be great if you have shots of a finished product.

Anybody know what either of these are? :dunno: The engine is an 87' 2.5 TBI w/ 4-speed manual 2wd. I looked in the electrical manual and couldnt find an answer. I thought the square one was the tps connection but it looks like that is plugged in and I was wrong  Between the air conditioning and all the things that arent even plugged in, I think the manche has about 100 lbs. of wire and line that arent being used...weird.

Crankcase breather hose grommet
ocskipper replied to 500 MJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have the 2.5L with the exact same set up....Large ventilation hose in the front (rotted) and smaller hose in the rear. I have some oil comming out of both just never been able to find the replacement parts... I know I have a ccv but have heard of people replacing that with a pcv from a cj5 i think. Does anybody know a good way to rig something up to avoid problems down the line? Also, How would I unclog the rear line? -Skip :USAflag: -
Any recommendations on affordable adjustable track bars? This seems to be the best deal I have found thus far. I am also looking for the front replacement bushing set.

viewtopic.php?f=9&t=10459 That link should give you everything you need and I believe there is even one more write up on it in the DIY section. The entire conversion is very easy, I am just waiting around for a deal like you founf to pick up all the parts and make it happen. -Skip :USAflag:

New lift, new problems...
ocskipper replied to ocskipper's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
So I will need to replace both front and rear axels? How do I determine if the axels I'm looking at have the correct gearing? -
I thought I remembered seeing a write up on replacing the valve cover gasket and how to clean all the internals. I have searched and searched with no results. :typing: :headpop:
