  1. :huh???: So I have a D35 or a D30 in the rear? ...and with 3.55 correct? So any of the axles Pete mentioned with either 4.10 or 4.88 is optimal for 30/31's on a 4 banger?
  2. Good call! The castle nut on the top of the trac bar was finger loose! :shake: I wrenched it down and boy did it make a difference. The trucks steering is about 50% tighter, but now it is pulling left and screeming for an alignment...that will come this weekend after new wheels and tires. What trac bar and brackets did you use? -Skip :USAflag:
  3. The truck is about an inch higher in the front but my control arms seem to be pretty level. :dunno: I am going to hit some junkyard this weekend looking for an axel and some other misc. parts, I will put this one on my list. Thanks. pm sent on the sway bar brackets. Thanks Johnny! -Skip :USAflag:
  4. I am pretty sure Eagle is correct. I can get the tab number if needed though. Is it worth re-gearing the D35? Thanks for the heads up on the 92+ sway bar end links, i will give that a try. I went out and looked at the truck again...other than the track bar, bushings, and sway bar rub i think i am fine. The control arm is level and the truck is tracking straight.
  5. Any recomendations on the control arms, sway bar link and track bar? My front break lines are fine and i didnt touch the back.
  6. I put V8 ZJ coils and a 2" spacer into the 2.5L manche last night and got over 3 inches of lift! :clapping: I am assuming it will settle a bit but I am extremely happy with it. Thanks Johnnyc! Anyway, I had a few question to get this thing dialed in. I am going to put the 16" Rubicon whells w/ 30" all terrains. It is slower than a dog with the 2.5L and a 4 speed manual (D35) in the rear but it runs strong and I don't want to ditch it. Is there anything I can do to compensate for the bigger tires without going to a D44 ($$$ :fs1:) and if it is recommended to upgrade the axle, what gearing? My sway bar is rubbing the coil on my passenger side. Doesnt seem to be a big issue but is there an easy fix? Also, is it a worthwhile job to replace all my bushings and ball joints for improved ride and performance? Tie rods? There is about 4-5" of play in my steering wheel that i want to eliminate. I am hoping a good alignment after the new tires will help, but where to i go to solve this? Track bar? Thanks, -Skip :USAflag:
  7. I have a 1987 2.5L 2wd 4 speed and want to put the V8 zj coils in the front and shackle the back to match to fit 31's. I was just going to get the adjustable rear shackle from MO and a set of springs from the JY or the web. Is there anything else recommended to ensure ride quality and durability? Also what about using a spacer with the coils for additional lift? Along the same lines, I also want to replace all my bushings, ball joints and tie rods when I put the lift on. Does anyone have a link to where I can get the right parts? Thanks -Skip :USAflag:
  8. Here it goes.... #1. My power steering leaks EVERYWHERE. The pump is fine and works great as long as I keep dumping fluid in it. My question lies in what to replace...I was thinking all hoses and fittings including the pressure hose, as most of the fluid seems to be coming out of the connections. Is there anything else anyone would recommend. Gaskets, sealers, etc? #3. Lastly, I need to replace the fresh air tube and fitting that goes from my valve cover to my air box as well as the smaller diameter tube and fitting at the back of the valve cover which is part of the CCV system. The smaller one in the rear is not too bad, but the fresh air fitting going into the cover is rotted and leaks oil. If someone knows where i can get a new set-up that would help, or better yet if someone has a decent one lying around that would make my day. Thanks for any help... P.S. the pig is a 1987 2.5L 4 speed. -Skip :USAflag:
  9. Passed smog today with Flying colors! Replaced the O2 sensor and gave it a good tune up, I am actually going to be registered! Thanks for the help. -skip :USAflag:
  10. Bump: check update on previous post. Help please.
  11. Thanks Eagle. I am picking up my parts today and found a place that will test free until I pass if the first one is failed  Update: I got a big surprise when I got under the manche to install the new O2 sensor last night....I don't have one! The PO cut the stock exhaust off and installed a flowmaster. He cut the entire port and everything off where the sensor goes into the pipe. Luckily the flowmaster came out of a 97 XJ so the port looks to be the same. All that is there now is an old bent and rusty O2 sensor that does not connect to anything. Where do I connect the new one??? I can't find the wiring harness anywhere that it plugs into. This should be my smog issue though.... hahahah
  12. thanks, but that didnt really answer my question.
  13. Ya, I am not happy about what a headache this turned out to be but I am in it for the long haul... So where is the best place to start? O2 sensor, coolant temp, and injectors? The other issue i thought of was my muffler. it is after market and garage welder, if it is a bad enough leak could that be it?? Thanks, Skip :USAflag:
  14. It runs great for a stock 87 2.5L with 130,000 miles on it, no backfiring but it does dog here tand there especially when cold. I can replace the O2 sensor and the CAT, any cheap fix ideas on the exhaust leak, i am pretty sure i have at least a minor one. I can email you a pdf of the print out if you can provide me an address.
  15. I have an 87 comanche 2.5L 4 speed that is a "GROSS POLLUTER" :fs1: I was looking for any advice as to parts I can replace and common problems with the 2.5L I can pay for a $180.00 diagnostic but I am trying to avoid it if I can. Any help would be greatly appreciated as to cheap fixes that might give me a chance at passing. I have a copy of the failed test print out that I can email if that will help anyone. Thanks in advance... -Skip :USAflag:
  16. I am experiencing a very similar problem. My brake light fuse blows out after only about a day or two though. I replace the fuse and they work for a while, and then the fuse blos out again. I checked the ground and it is fine...I think it may be a bad socket or something. I hate electrical and fuses are cheap! ;) Another weird one I have is my left turn signal. The indicator on my gauge cluster stays green all the time when my headlights are on. The blinker still works and even blinks on the dash when activated but stays on even after i turn it off....any ideas? -Skip
  17. Sweet... I'll go to the Napa here and get those ordered. Looks like that would be alot better than just getting bulk hose and tryign to make it work. All of my vacuum lines crapped out on me as well. Rather than ordering a whole new assemply i just connected the lines directly to eachother without that little plastic connector piece in the middle. Thus far, it has worked great!
  18. How long did the swap take you? Recomended for a novice with basic hand tools?
  19. ok thanks, I am having some minor electircal issues. My brake lights keep going bad. I blow the fuse within a day of putting a brand new one in but I thought that might be a bad ground. I will check it out.
  20. Is that pretty staight forward for a novice? I thought it was like 12 bolts and some fluid...
  21. Is that pretty staight forwsrd for a novice? I thought it was like 12 bolts and some fluid...
  22. I am losing all my clutch fluid very fast. I was up in Wrightwood for the weekend and hasd to fill it up about every 15 miles or so if I wasnt cruising the highway just to get home. I figure its either a bad master or slave. I have an 87' 2.5 TBI 2wd. I am pretty sure the slave is internal, how hard are they to swap? It is pouring rain so I havent had a chance to get under the truck and check the bell for fluid yet. Any other idead or words to the wise? Thanks. -Skip
  23. ok, where would i find the vacuum failure?
  24. :hijack: I got a problem up the same alley. When I turn on my vent/ac/or heater nothing comes out of the vents. The heater works but it is coming I'm through the dash and other unknown places lol :???: Any ideas on how i could at least get my vent working and if I'm really lucky my ac? thnx, skip
