With a similar front lift my axle shifted about 5/8" left toward the drivers side. The below link explains how to measure this shift. Then you can adjust it out to re-center the axle w. your adjustable track bar. After that you will need to re-center the steering wheel with thr drag link. None of this should affect your alignment. http://gojeep.willyshotrod.com/HowtoTrackbar.htm can't I just center the body over the axle by disconnecting the upper mount of the track bar and moving the steering wheel?

ta-da! Makes total sense Pete. Thanks for the dose of common sense  , it is always appreciated.

Installed V8 ZJ coils, 2 inch poly spacers, 92 xj longer sway bar links, 31" mud terrains and got it aligned. Rides good just some play in the steering and ride, not quite death wobble though. I am not sure if i even needed the track bar. Just looking at it, it seems to be fine, it is angeled slightly but everything is tight. The sway bar is hitting my coil on the passenger side though, the relocation brackets should fix that.

Just got my rocky road adj. track bar and sway bar relocation mounts. An alignment is necessary after installation?

I know that i won't pass smog and it is not environmentally friendly but if i run the truck without that cat to diagnose if that is the problem will i damage anything else?
-
Ok, I just passed smog about a month ago only having to replace the O2 but maybe the cat went bad already....Murphy's law. I will look into the injector as well. Thanks guys.

Remove and check visually? Is there a way to clean or just replace?

I am replacing the radiator in the Manche and am looking for recomendations. 2.5L 87'. Also wanted to put in an electric fan. Is there a donor available at most JY :dunno: , I would like new but am unsure on cost. Thanks! Skip

1987 2.5L Dramatic loss of power, all the basics have been checked and are fine. New plugs, fuel filter, air filter, oil, etc. My temp gauge will light up randomly at idle so i replacing the thermostat today. Could that possibly contribute to the loss of power? Regardless, and common issues i should look into? Thanks, Skip

Find the parts he wants. Quote him, and require a bank transfer for payment. I deal with Nigeria regularly, grammar is always terrible. A lot of money to be made if you find the right contact.

Simple track bar question
ocskipper replied to ocskipper's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That would have to be either a bad hub/bearing unit or bad ball joint(s). All components mentioned are stock. Where should I focus first? -

Simple track bar question
ocskipper replied to ocskipper's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
UPDATE: Not sure if this helps but when it wobbles it feels like the tire is wobbing back and forth in the wheel well. If I stand at the front of the truck and put my foot at the top of the side of the tire and shake it, it will wobble back and forth and make a little clicking sound. -
Simple track bar question

ok, what is the fix? -
I have pieced together about 3" of lift in the fron of the comanche and the steering is still a little loose and shaky when I am going over bumps or at high speeds. I guess it could be classified as sort of a "baby death wobble". A cursory check (looking at it and shaking it) did not send up any red flags for me when it came to my track bar and I know that is usually the culprit. My question is whether or not there would be a noticeable problem with the track bar if that is what is giving me issues before i spen the money on an adjustable. The bushing on my drag link between my drop pitman arm looks warn and i know my tie rod ens or stock 1987. I have already replaced the shock and had it aligned. Thanks Skip :USAflag:

Leave it be. The government isnt capable of a successful legalization IMHO.

Track bar and sway bar disco question
ocskipper replied to ocskipper's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks, I checked the website and talked to the guy. He has noth the shorter and longer JKS so it looks like this will work out. Not a bad find at $75.00 for the whole lot. If anyone needs the other set of sway bar disco's (longer ones should still be available) let me know and I will se how much he wants. He is willing to ship and I imagine they would be about $40.00  Thanks, Skip :USAflag: -
Can anyone tell me just by looking at this stuff if it will bolt in the my manche with about 3" of lift in the front. I am not sure what the bracket is on the end of the track bar :dunno: Also, i know the JKS come in different sizes anyway to tell what these are? The guy who is selling them is effing clueless. Thanks  Skip :USAflag: Adjustable track bar Sway Bar Disco's

:rotf: ya, I am talking about what I would mount the top of a long travel resevoir shock to in the rear. Typically you see some sort of "A" frame comming through the bed of the truck.

I myself am still in the processs of figuring out all the mystery plugs, hoses, and connectors that are hanging out under the hood of the MJ. My Haynes manual has awesome diagrams that I havent gotten around to reading yet  but here is a link to the diagram that BLHTAZ posted. http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=12517 -
For those that have a Ford 8.8
ocskipper replied to Codycobra84's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The truck is good enough right now for me to wait for the 8.8 I have a line on all the parts and axle but it is looking like $600.00 installed. Not bad considering the disk brake upgrade on top of everything  , but that is more that I paid for my truck! :ack: -
My never-ending thread of questions.
ocskipper replied to bigalpha's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The "contraption" is simply a connection for you vacuum lines. I had the same problem and removed the entire thing. It should just slide straight out of the clip and then you can reconnect the vacuum lines directly. Huge difference once all those connections are zipped up tight and running right! Here is a pic of what I've got. Before: After: Skip :USAflag: -
Anybody have build specs for a rear shock nest in a Comanche? Specs for new front shock mounts with reservoirs would help too. Any input on successful prerunner set-ups including equipment ad fab work is appreciated! Thanks, Skip :USAflag:

ocskipper replied to Codycobra84's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I am pretty sure it is 3.55 in a D35 :dunno: I am not even sure what gearing the comanche currently has. If there was an axle/gear ratio out there that came stock in XJ's that would show improvement I would do that, but at the same time, I only want to do this once if I decide to go bigger in the future. -
Maybe I will give these a shot on the rear once I finish messing with it. Thanks
