I believe it is vibration from the motor, 25 years of running will cause somethings to loosen up. It also probably has something to do with heating and cooling of the manifold and block. Things expand when they get hot and shrink when cool. This with road vibrations and motor movement will wiggle them right out. Maybe Lock tight? Did you check all of them all of them? Did you get at the ones on the bottom of the manifold? I had no ticking after tightening. It might have blown out your gasket. So you may not want to get them so tight you won't be able to get them back out. Maybe someone else can chime in with torque specs. I just went pretty tight. Checking them with every oil change wouldent hurt. Wheres my doughnut? J/K.

Did you ever check your Manifold bolts? They vibrate Loose. Two of my bolts were hand tight. I had the same exact thing. When was cold no ticking, as soon as it heated up it started ticking. Try run a unlit propane torch around the manifold. If RPM's increase over a certain spot theres your problem. I'm still putting my money on loose or cracked manifold. Also after it heats up, while idling try depressing your EGR valve all the way. Your motor Will bog way down if it does not die completely it will start to make your Popping ticking sound. Thats exhaust escaping from the gap between your Exhaust manifold and your block.

Did you hike all the way through? Thats one hell of a hike during the summer months. We did it in 3days. We ended up having to hike at night and rest during the day because of the heat. I hated doing it at the time but now that I look back I'm glad I did it. That water fall is awesome you can climb up inside and end up in that little hole. Pretty crazy place down there. If your losing power when the ticking starts I'm willing to bet dollars to donuts your exhaust manifold bolts are loose. Check the front top easy one first then try the one on the lower back of the manifold. You have to go up from the bottom to get to it. When its cold the gap is small when it heats up the gap gets larger. If you find any of them are loose go through and re tighten the bolts.

I agree with you about the dems and Reps. Remember Obama was going against the norm running against Hilary. I believe in Obama's Second Term. I am weary about anything coming from Israel. The local farmers then have to turn to Monsanto to buy fertilizer and insecticide (which Monsanto Produces) because the corn will no longer grow in the native soil as it once did. The thing about the global economic model is if it fails we all die along with every creature on earth. Same with global warming. One side says its true the other says its fake. Can we take that risk? Is it really worth risking the entire planet because of economic reasons? It just blows my mind how much power a piece of paper has and grants to the bankers who right on it.

So whats the bad news? Looks like to me he just put in an executive order saying that the manufacturing base should be here in the USA for national security reasons. I could be totally off base. Also its saying that if there is a shortfall in the private sector in an industry such as energy the government can assist in the implementation of superior technology to aid the manufacturing base in being able to meet demand required for national emergencies or national security threats. I havent heard the republicans crying about it yet so they must support it too. Thats whats really scaring me about this.

Then she can just sit back and collect checks for her "investment." That way the regular folk can survive but will not be able to advance and be competition to her. Information is very powerful but misinformation has even more especially if you own the gold and have direct links to politicians. Personally I have had just about enough of these power companies, retailers, Banks and agro business something has got to give and when it does lots of people are going to be left high and dry and I have a feeling its not going to be real people that have learned valuable life lessons. Those corporate hot shots have no idea what real life is. Its industrial agriculture. They planned it this way. If they can release them into nature and kill off or breed out all naturally cultured strains then they own the bread basket. I think its like 100 people from India commit suicide every week because of share cropping Monsanto Cotton. They loan the money to buy the seed. Which cost more then regular seed but is supposed to be insect proof. When it fails to produce the farmers are left with nothing. They don't have a safety net so they kill themselves. This is what the US will be like in 20yrs if people let the corporations keep their special influence and talk people into being mad at the poor.

Hornbrod yes they arent very friendly on Oahu. The locals there have been used and abused. I believe the reason people are so friendly in the northwestern chain and Guam is because they still have their culture. They have'nt had corporate america shoved down their throat. The only corporations are Monsanto and Gyco Leisure aka Molokai Ranch. Both of these companies are trying to divide the community. On one hand they supply jobs and big checks to certain positive opinion community groups. The other hand is putting toxic chemicals into the aina which when plowed ends up on the reef killing the fish which the culture needs to survive. Molokai ranch is the largest property owner and recently shut down all operations because the community would not approve a multi million dollar subdivision on the longest stretch of undeveloped coastline in the Main chain. Its happening again with Pattern Energy. On the one hand they are offering jobs and community gifts and road improvements. The other hand is not letting the residents hunt and gather those grounds developing the same stretch of coast that was just saved. None stop. The people are freaking pissed off. They are sick of having to watch their backs. Sick of having to try to deal with people who only have one reason for coming here. Money.
