  1. thanks I am going out to the Mj to see if I can strat it up. Worked great was able to start the 89 and move it out of the garage and then move the 90 after puting the starter on so they are lined up ready to be made into one.
  2. I do not mean to jump on this thread about this but Does a starter out of a 5 speed work for the auto trans or is it different? I know they are different nose cones on Chev's but do not know aout the jeep. I would like to take the starter out of the 5 speed truck and put it in the auto so I can move it in the yard if I can that is why I am asking. THanks for any help.

  4. yes pete I know someone that has 4.56's and runs a 30" tire. that jeep work's great. but it does have a 454 big block pushing almost 800hp
  5. My buddy's fiancee is just barely over 5 feet and after he lifted the XJ, which he bought for her to use as a winter car, as well as the occasional off road playing for him. Well, after he *finally* replaces the water pump he will probably be driving it with her driving the 4wd Dakota, as she now has to jump to get into the XJ. yes that is what she said so I am off to the garage to see what I ahve to do to make a good comanche out of 2 of them. I know its not much and I can do the soa to lift the back. Just have to do some work to the front. Rockers, one box side and some other small stuff.
  6. Yeah well thats it. and now that the wife is prego she says to me yesterday. I think you should leave the xj alone and build your truck so I can drive the xj. I will not be able to climb up into a jeep that is taller and biger tires. ( she is not quite 5 foot) :dunno:   So now after asking and geting all this info. emailing about front end parts deciding on the what d44 to use. I am outside yesterday with her day looking the 90 MJ over to see what all it needs to be put on the road. jeeps I know know why they came with so many different parts from the factory. even a build in 2 months at home changes 5 times. :help:
  7. Thats right nothing in the jeep world is a sure thing. I have a 89 and a 90 mj both with a d44 dearend and they both have the metal plug that you put the 3/8 ratchet in, unlike the d44 in the pick that someone posted. that plug is an outie not an inie..............

    Wish me luck

Hope you make it ok. you must be on your way to Ontario? I live in NB and have a brother and sister that live in ONT.
  9. Anyone elts have an idea. thanks eagle I will order some tomorrow. Do you know if the perches are the factory ones that would have the shock nut on them?
  10. We both say way cool aswell
  11. Great we were woundering about the heat on the seals and internal part. ok next question. got some spec's and have to dubble check but I have 3.55 in on d44 and 3.07 with a limitted slip in the other d44. what would be the best to use for 31's or 32's? Keep in mind that this jeep is going to have 3 to 4.5" of lift and will be the DD. the reason I ask is because the jeep the d44 is goin on has 3.55's now. so if I go with the limitted slip and the 3.07's I will have to swap the fron as well. Not that big of a deal as I am going to be taking her a part to do the lift anyway. just woundering about gear to tire ratio.
  12. Question from a welder that I have found that will do this. does the axels have to come out of the housing or can the housing stay togeather when he welds it?
  13. Tools home made socks and candy. we went hafers on a new couch. recliner kind a great laugh or 2 watching the dog go nuts with all the paper on the floor. a Smile on my face watching my Girl open the stuff I got her. info on the comanche's. ordering a lift kit soon as the new year comes
  14. Thanks that was the one I saw. looks like a great kit. I pmed you some questions.
  15. Thanks did u use this kit or it is just something you found?
  16. Its what i did...cost me $9 bucks for some HD perches...my SUA perches are still there too if i ever decide to go back Ok but where did you get the perches and not just that I was thinking of the shocks. Do I have to mount a braket for them as well? I do not weld and that was one of the reasons why I think I would just get the bolt on kit and well it would be alot eazer to find someone and paythem to do it.

    ewwwww.....

Here where I live if the pile is there its a good thing. do not look at this as bad. here if it is their you get to add to the pile. you can not add oil or anything to clean ground but if its already wait spot you could build a unk if you want. if it was me I would cover it up and put a tree on it. or a big barrel so you can burn other garbage in it. But hay thats only here in Canada where I live. If I was to make a call to see what could be done as others have said you will pay through the nose to have it cleand.
  18. I thought it was on this site but can not find now. please help. I saw a site that has a bracket for $150.00 that looked realy good to swap the axels from top to bottom of the springs. Does anyone know where that is?
  19. From My jeeping Famile to yours MARRY CHRISTMAS and hope you all get tools and jeep stuff Like we did.
  20. Thanks a lot I will pm you.
  21. I was recently laid off from a dealership, but I still have my access to the internet based parts lookup system called Star Parts...that screen shot is from there. Only Chrysler employees have access... ;) Sorry to hear you got laid off. So can I send you a vin and you can run it for me? if so that would be great.
  22. Me too I had to haul a chev out of the driveway the otherday in about 1 1/2 of snow and thats no fun with 2wd....LOL
  23. I was looking for a info site like that before. what site is that. I would love to run a v# or 2. if you found a set of 4 56 and you do not want them please post an ad. I would think someone would take them. If I was closer I would...
  24. Well thanks for all the help guys. I had a short day at work today and after getting stuck in the snow yesterday I was able to get the jeep in the garage and fix the font axle. the boys were king of looking at me strange when I started to put spacers on the fork shaft and then put it back on the front housing.. worked great and Me girl is loving me again now that we have snow all over the place.
