  1. I relined the inner shifter boot for my 88 Comanche Chief with a piece of inner tube rubber. It's been 3 months, and it's still intact. It would have been easier to replace it with a new factory part but I didn't know that I needed one until I had the shifter out for a clutch replacement, and I needed the truck the next day. steve
  2. Man....that makes my stomach hurt all over again. I first tightened my column about 5 years ago, and like you, I only tightened 2 bolts. Last year, I had to tighten it again, and this time, I went all the way in and tightened all 4 bolts, complete with locktite. The most aggravating part was the wiring harness and having to deal with it. I don't want to do that job again. I still don't have my horn re-connected. steve
  3. Worked for me on my 88 Model Comanche Chief 4.0. About a month ago, I pulled it out of my shop and then went back in to close the doors, etc. When I came back out, it wouldn't turn over. Had Fuel pump noise......starter solenoid click.......dash lights OK. I took a sledge hammer and used the end of the handle to bump the starter and it worked like a charm. Must be the brushes....but it ain't broke yet, so I haven't fixed it yet. steve
  4. Just be sure that you don't cut the plastic ties that hold the new Throwout bearing in it's collapsed position. Hydraulic pressure will break the ties when you push the clutch pedal after your are finished with the installation.
