  1. I know this a very old post but It is new to me. What is strange is that it was today last year that this stuff was posted. Anyway with the fiberglass bedsides, I know rustys has a set, my question is....in the picture on this posting it looks like the whole bed was removed and supports were fabbed up to hang the bedsides on the white truck. Does anybody know anymore about these fiberglass bedsides. Can I just lay these fiberglass pieces up over my existing bed sides or do I have to do alot of modification. I have a really screwed up front section of my bed and this is another option, my other was using diamond plating and plate the front on both sides so it would match.
  2. Started out with the intention to change the spark plugs out(sbc chevy 350 conversion) decided with the space issue it was just as easy to remove the header downpipes to change them out. Fought tooth and nail to get the old plugs out and new plugs in, was running late anyway, and drove home with the exhaust wide open. No fender flares, 35' tires sticking out way to far, no exhaust, not getting pulled over by the cops....priceless

  4. Took it out in the snow, and saw how far I could go. Then changed the oil, thawed it out and put it to bed.
  5. Another thing. Say I install the new 6.5 coils and it levels everything out better. When I put on a winch bumper and winch, will I be right back to where I am now?
  6. What do you mean control arm issues?
  7. The tires are 35's and the rear is SOA looks like stock springs but I am no expert. The hood with the two scoops is how I got the truck they came off and I cut the hood up added some sheet metal on the sides, to let some of that hot air out from the V8.
  8. I guess I have this picture also, so then is this a stock spring with a spacer? You can kind of see how it is sitting from these pictures granted they are old.
  9. My truck is at home and I only have a few pics for now that would even remotely show anything. This is the best I have for right now. It is the spring a hard plastic looking thing then a rubber material pad on top. I wasnt sure if the top stuff was stock and it just had a longer spring or what.
  10. I bought an 89 comanche that already has a lift on it somewhere in the 5 inch range from what I was told and comparing it to others. My question is that, it sits lower in the front then it does in the rear, and I am trying to figure out what the best method would be to level the thing out. It has a a chevy v8 which I am sure is weighing it down alittle bit but it just has the stock bumper for now (not much weight). How do I tell what size coil springs this thing has and whether it has a spacer or not. I am not familiar with how the stock MJ, XJ coil spring setup looked like. Also did comanches have leaf springs up front as well.
  11. Yes you would think so...........However when I was in college a friend of mine, a girl not that it would only happen that way, told me her car kept overheating...and eventually the battery wore down and it wouldnt start. But up until that point she had no idea, and she was pretty street smart, so that is why I threw that in. You just never really know what is going on in a car you don't drive everyday. So now I make it a point for my wife to know where the temp guage and other guages are and what they normaly should read.
  12. I have a 2000 grand cherokee and it makes that random squeak in the winters at idle. Mine If I had to guess is an idler pulley, but it made the same noise last year and "knock on wood" it went away when it warmed up last summer, and now of course it is back. Tell your wife to keep an eye on the temp guage I guess if nothing else to make sure the belt doesnt snap without her knowing it.
  13. Then one of us would be safe. The seatbelts are currently out of my jeep due to it locking up, but I do have a backup to put in.
  14. That is a difference of geographic location I guess. Here in the midwest It is not uncommon for a dog to be in the bed of a truck. Keep in mind that my dog does not ride in the back down the highway or true offroading but going between fields or down country roads you would never see A happier dog. I am sure in florida you do things different, but here I like to take my dog to the river and let him swim, and there is no way in hell he even if I could get him to fit, ride back to the house inside my manche. So I digress, but this is why I want to build my bed so the dog will fit. Otherwise I will just have to drag him by a rope (just kidding)
  15. Yeah I am looking at different fender flare ideas since my tires stick out a ways, and what people have done with the back half of the MJs. A section of my bed was cut up by the previous owner for what purpose i have no idea other than maybe getting a new sawzall, so I am looking for some sort of tube style box to build that can still carry a few things including the trusty dog and not look unsightly.
  16. First off, Welcome to comanche club. Second, if you want inspiration, check out MJ PROJECTS. Yeah I have been slowly making my way through that section. The introduce your rig section should keep me busy for awhile.
  17. Is there somewhere on here that is up to date with pictures of everyones rigs. Before i went through the site one by one, I thought I would ask. I'm just looking for inspiration for my truck, and looking for ideas. If not there should be a sticky or however it works that people can dump pictures of the various components and other pics of there trucks into.
