  1. Agreed.
  2. Not an MB, for the various reasons stated above.
  3. Probably gonna list it at $9500 here locally, BBV is like 12,500, but I'm not sure I could get that.
  4. Spent today cleaning it inside and out, looking pretty sharp now:
  5. 88MJ should not have the barcode on the door tag from the factory.
  6. probably the 8-10k range.
  7. I actually got a little bit of work done on the CRD MJ yesterday. That goes without saying for most everything about the VM, no? So this was the source of the odd noise, even though the timing belt looked fine, right? That said, I still want one. And now I'm seriously thinking about changing the timing chain on my 2.5 while I have the radiator off. Yup, belt skipped, fubared rockers, and yes you do want one, want to buy mine? Can arrange delivery to alaska.
  8. So the rest of my rockers came in today, actually several days early, after a quick dinner of a few pounds of chicken we hopped out to the garage and got to work, got the rockers in, the injector sealing surfaces cleaned up, the intake carefully put back on(this is nerve racking as its easy to knock the rockers off of their perches as nothing really holds them in place). Then injectors, fuel rail, wiring etc, and cranked it over. After a bit of cranking and me forgetting to connector the whatever it is on the back of the fuel rail it fired up and puttered nicely. So after only $1000 in parts it running, and just needs to be reassembled, interior cleaned, title paperwork done, then its up for sale!
  9. This varies from state to state and company to company. I wrecked an 88 Ranger.. State Farm totalled it out. I bought it back for $300. I kept my original clear title back. In Illinois, over 7 years old and you can get the clean title back. :agree: i should have made my self a bit clear here in virginia we would get a salvage title if it has been considered a loss, as for how long it stays in a salvage status :dunno: once the vehicle gets a "salvage title" it will always have one unfortunantly. Or until you go through one of the various processes (either legal or illegal) to get a clean title.
  10. it's nice that engineers took that into account. typically, in my opinion, engineers over-think things and the end result is that common sense is never taken into account. is this on your motor, a project jeeps, or a customers? This is a jeep I picked up to flip in new jersey.
  11. the VM 2.8 L is designed that should the valves impact the piston the rockers are what fails, not the valves. Pricey buggers though.
  12. New belt - $80 16 new rockers - $752(with shop discount) 116k on this belt, belt looked fine, I believe it skipped a tooth on the crank pulley, it REALLY fubared the exhaust rockers, and only moderately fubared the intake rockers. So 116k on this Jeep, only 16k past the change interval, after seeing this failure I see no reason to push the 100k change interval, in fact now I feel that much worse about pushing my own change interval to 113k on my own CRD. Bad rocker: Not as bad rocker: New rocker($47 each at my shop price): From front to back, worst, bad, new: Left to right, new bad worst: Worst bad new: Worst: roller pushed way down, seized, surface highly spalled: Bad: Roller pushed down: New: No play in roller bearings, roller height higher, surface somewhat rough from manufacturing: Left new, notice height of roller above rocker, protrudes about 1mm, right bad, roller surface about flush with rocker. Left new, right worst, roller collapsed to below rocker surface: Collapsed roller, spalled surface, cam wore grooves into the rocker metal: Compare to new: Notice height of new roller on new rocker(right): Bunch of bad ones laid out:
  13. Brought you do a webpage with a black background, a large prominent red countdown clock including milliseconds from 10 seconds, large red arabic writing across the top, when the countdown ended it redirected to a youtube video of some sort of explosion sound. Basically the exact opposite of what you would want to look at on your laptop in an airport.
  14. ya, and now the page is down. oh well, was funny while it lasted.
  15. http://samuelljacksonizer.com/countdown-with-report.swf
  16. Ya I was gonna say, maybe pass on this one, it looks pretty rusty to me.
  17. where am I supposed to see an MJ? Is it hiding behind the two vehicles that are clearly not an MJ?
  18. Oh my:
  19. Me and my buddy have spent near $100 in copper/fittings and supplies, trust me when I say I know a little something about shine. The cool thing about this still is that I can run it as a reflux or a potstill.
  20. That would imply I have a problem, me only problem is that this is not done yet! Ya, why build a Jeep when you can just go out and buy one!
  21. So I'm building a new better still: My buddy and I finally got around to doing some work last week, today I went ahead and got some more stuff done. Gotta make the coil tomorrow and then find a kettle, then its time to run some vinegar through to clean it on, then onto the booze!
  22. Me too, if it was a longbed.
  23. Ruffly $4000 iw ould say.
  24. Found this today, maybe I'm the only one who found it Hilarious:
