Nothing new, just some pictures of more parts: Not sure if my pedals in the 88 are going to work right for me(at least not without some work), so I grabbed these pedals from a 96 (96 pedals will bolt to the dual diaphragm booster, and my master without issue, and at $10 its hard to complain) Now I had already grabbed a clutch master/slave setup, but I found one at the junkyard that is a new replacement, so I decided it was a slightly better part, so once again for $10 I got something that should be a little better: (the original one) (and the nice "new" one I grabbed today) The dual diaphragm booster out of the 01: This is the 8.25 that will be going in there at some point: And of course the heated leather seats of out a 01 XJ limited that will be installed: -
Maybe I will head over to the budweiser brewery today and get some free beer. Also, none of the beer I drink comes with twist off bottle. Swiss army knife FTW!

Picked-up the axles...let me know what you think
Sir Sam replied to robfg67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
HOLD IT. you bought this from a JEEP STORE?! dude, you've officially been hosed. unfortunately for them, if you they didn't give you a disclaimer about the VERY VERY POOR condition of that axle, they HAVE to give you back your money. if Jeeps are their profession then they can be held accountable for mis-information and probably quite a few other things. they robbed you buddy, go get your $$$ back uh huh, so when he looked at when he picked it up it was in perfect condition then? -
Those are the Daisy's pushing up. Oh and the car would look a lot better as a wagon.

man that truck is terrible, I don't think I see a single salvagable part there.

LOL. You saw the axle when you picked it up. You paid his price, there's no reason he should give you any money back. -

Jesus, did they dredge it off the bottom of the ocean? Man, talk about a bunch of snapped bolts! -
IMO if your going to order a new shift knob from the dealer I would order the 97+ shift knob, it looks 1000x times better and IMO fits your hand very nicely.

97-01 4-DR XJ Front Doors...
Sir Sam replied to Catatonic Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If you find more panels Ill take that trim piece .... It'll match my dash bezel perfectly!!! The trim piece doesn't come off seperate, the door panel needs to be switched out. Also, that faux wood trim stuff is what came on the limiteds. The cool thing is the limiteds came with that pocket, where all the other door panels didn't. Once day I am hoping to find a junked panel that I can take the pocket off of and install into my good panels. -

Ya, I'm not a fan of the lighter grey from the 97/98 XJs.....IMO the all dark door panels look many times better: -

.........Not found of wiring? Wiring in the newer doors is pretty damm easy, just need to sit down and start running the new wiring(assuming your MJ did not have power windows/doors already) -
I don't know guys that looks really cramped.. I don't think I would enjoy the drive with the new dash.. The newer dash sit further away from the passengers, but higher up. It deceptive looking because the passenger airbag takes up some real estate.

you will either need do get the 97+ door strikers, or install the 96- door latches and power lock actuator. otherwise your on your own for wiring. -
Question about seafoam Need kind of fast
Sir Sam replied to fatcat0491's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I thought if you added it to the oil you should only do it just prior to an oil change, not necessarily as an additive to leave in there for any real amount of time or miles. :dunno: yup, few hundred miles before oil change -

I seem to remember you could in this case. But I might be wrong. -

Ahh, that makes more sense. :D I think I need a nap. Ya, I thought it was obvious what I meant, course, to the person who thinks its obvious it always is - I can see how its confusing though. -
Question on rear axle upgrade
Sir Sam replied to robfg67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The hardware such as the calipers and backing plate are the some, the rotors, obviously, have a different bolt pattern - but you take what you can get when you can. ZJ WJ used a different bolt circle, so you'd have mismatched wheels. Libertine also used a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern, I think. Did they offer rear disks? I wasn't talking about grabbing the whole rear end, only the expensive to find brake hardware, and buying new rear rotors. The disk rears are not limited to the limiteds. All KJs over 03(i think its 03) had the rear disks. i had the oppourtunity a while back to pull the rear brakes off of an 06, I sure wish I had done it then, they would have been perfect for my 01 8.25. -
I wasn't looking at it for my own vehicle, I was just looking for something to flip. Overall at that price I could have had about 2800 into it after taxes and the repair, and probably sold it for about 4k here. Most Cherokees are selling above or right around blue book here. Saw an 01 with hail damage also sell for 4500 today(that was stupid high) Sounds like cherokees don't hold their value in your respective markets as well as they do in mine - good for me trying to make a buck.

They do, but disk brakes don't have bolt patterns. -
Question on rear axle upgrade
Sir Sam replied to robfg67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
yup, ZJs or WJs. and ya.......$100 tops IMO. if it were a 29 spline or had a LSD then maybe more, but I can find 27 spliners for $150 all day long, so theres nothing really special about it. -
the dash, the heater box, the AC box, the blower.....etc etc etc are all different. and thats correct that the wiring isn't compatible(some of the electronics might be for the HO) You really just need a parts Jeep to do this swap. Something like this: http://klode.com/kws/napplications/disp ... exit=close that sold for $300, it has all the parts you need to convert your interior over, save for the airbags(airbag set will run between 150-300). it also has a new drivetrain to go with all the interior. The pass door was good and the driver door was kinda dented. If you wanted to do the front end conversion too you would then need to buy the new body parts, its hard to go wrong at $300.
