Too bad your so far away. I love shells because they make the Jeep into a big SUV I can sleep in and haul stuff out of the weather. Plus with the right cap visibilty isn't really impaired and the wind drag hardly changes. -
I figured I would post my heater setup, its a harbor freight trickle/float charger, and a harbor freight extension cord/3 way splitter, plus the factory block heater. I put it where it is for two reasons; it was easier than routing it around up to the front; and it puts it up where it is easy to get to for plugging/unplugging it. For some people this is a big deal not having to bend over to unplug it, so that is a big consideration. Plus, you won't forget about it before driving off.

This truck comes with the 2.8 CRD.

If you want to "keep it in the family" you could get a Grand Cherokee bluetec, same engine as the mercedes bluetec.....but in a grand cherokee(2007/2008 model year). The 3L bluetec sold in the E320 is a good engine, and is going to be around for years. Not only that it is used in a butt-load of other vehicles, the grand cherokee, commander, sprinters, chrysler 300c, volkswagens........ There's no doubt that it will take a little more work to get the mercedes bluetec, you probably won't be able to go out on a saturday and buy it, unlike the caddy. But there are still lots of them out there, and prices on used bluetecs are pretty reasonable. I have a Jeep Liberty CRD, its no HP queen with 160HP, but it makes up for it in torque.....300 ft-lb, (this is in comparison to 210hp/235ft-lb for the 3.7 gas). The thing scoots! The variable geometry turbo boosts quick and pulls hard, I think you'll find the same thing with the bluetec, theres a reason the 0-60 is a little higher but the 1/4 mile is lower! In my 98 E300 turbo diesel I could cruise at 80mph and get 32-33 MPG, hard to beat for a car of that size....... -

Other than the badge on the back, and the different nozzle at the pump, you can't tell its a diesel. The bluetec engine runs so quiet you can't tell its a diesel unless you know to listen to it. Several times now I have been next to a bluetec at a light, only to not even know it untill they go past me and I see the badge. Not only that, but diesels DO have lower emissions per BTU burned. Plus you can run alternative fuels(IE biodiesel), which increase mileage and lower emissions further, not to mention that they are homegrown fuels and the money for the biodiesel doesn't go overseas to some towelhead who hates the great satan but still takes our money. Seriously, check out the bluetec or a CDI, you will be blown away with them. Quiet, no smells, torquey, long-life, high resale value. If you got a few years old bluetec or CDI(for the same price as a used caddy), the mercedes will still hold much of its value over the next ten years, the caddy won't hardly be worth anything after ten years. You seem like the perfect candidate for a bluetec, you have had a mercedes and loved it, are looking to buy a near new luxury car in the 30-40k range. A used bluetec fits that bill perfectly. Plus, its a diesel. -
Why the hell knows, denver is a big place. If she is riding the bus in denver, no, she is not hot.

How about a nice used mercedes diesel? You can get a nice used mercedes Bluetec for that same price. Plus its a diesel. And did I mention that its a diesel? Why wouldn't you want a mercedes diesel for the same price? And did I mention that its a diesel? I already regret selling my 98 E300 Turbo Diesel. -

Is it a width or a height issue? If it's height .. my friend had a similar topper on his Ranger. We used the rack and rails from a Grand Cherokee. Then we put a 1.5" thick board between the rails & the topper as a spacer. It lifted the crossbars up just enough to clear the middle hump/ribs of the topper. Painted the boards black to match, and then we mounted mount a row of those black nylon boat cleats down the sides of the board. Wound up looking pretty good, and with the cleats as anchor points, was very functional, too. Yes. I'd have to do the same because of the raised ribs, but I thought it might look like crap. Do you have a pic? Thule or someone makes a cargo bar that connects into the stock XJ rails, it sticks up way high above the roof, might work well for your shell. And dangit guys, your really making me want a shell! Yarg! -
Nice. Thats the kinda shirt I can get into.

Got another egg! Also a bunch of them decided to dust bath together.

Yup, its somewhere on the main circuit board, not on the cluster readout part. I had the same hopes as all you guys, took it apart and everything, couldn't get the mileage to switch, so I gave up. Gotta have a dealer reprogram the miles for you.

I don't mean to brag or sound "holyer than thou" but yes I do. I just hate when there is a beautiful stark natural beauty of the rockies around me, and then right over there someone had to plant a bunch of non-native grass, manicure it, cut it, water it(which water is a big deal and a big resource here), all because someone wanted a golf course there. Maybe the world just doesn't need one more golf course? As a reminder, this is the scenery I am referring to: No egg yet, gonna go check on her soon and see if she is trying to hide the easter eggs yet.
-
hahahhahahaha! Truth be told I have a particular hatred of golf, kinda ticks me off when I see stark natural beauty only to be obscured by manicured grass and artificial hills. Kinda like leprosy on the face of America. But that's just me. Plus, and not to offend anyone that golfs, most golf people I have known are pretenious shallow, and vain. I get tired of see the same cliche golfs types trying to impress me drivin their audi, caddy, or Lexus. These are also the same douchenozzles who drive agressively without turns signals and common courtesy on the road.

Don't have any golfballs, usually throw some egg-like rocks in. Usually they get the idea, but they just seem to find places on their own. Seems like they prefer the secluded private places, like under the KJ, or behind the MJ fenders, etc etc, easier in the winter to keep in laying in the nest boxes(warmer in the coop), but during the summer they seem to want to go outside more. No snakes around here, no fleas, ticks, chiggers, fire ants, asps......... The cold of the winter keeps em away.
