  1. Wow, I didn't realize manual regualtors are that expensive. I needed one for my driver's door which is power and I got one new off of eBay for $60. Aftermarket, but should be fine for this truck.
  2. A common problem is that the XJ water pump is differnt from TJ/ZJ/etc. 4.0 engines. If you got the wrong pump, the pulley will exhibit clearance issues. My best guess would be if it was a reman pump, then may have mispackaged or had a wrong core returned to rebuild it from. When I work at the dealership we used to keep both in stock, as the XJ defintely had a different part number from all other 4.0 applications.
  3. Sean, check places like Circuit City/Best Buy and WalMart. They sell radio mount kits for about $10 that give you a plastic piece to attach in the dash where the factory radio does, and then the aftermarket radio slides into them. Similar to the adapter stuff they have to reduce the size of the opening on a TJ, but instead this one keeps the hole the same size since it's already correct.
  4. Is it 2 or 4WD? 4WD are sealed units, 2WD can be repacked if still good, or replaced if bad.
  5. I would check around online. I know there is a company called Carolinas Auto Parts that sells them, but they are wholesale only requiring proof of a business license. I'm sure some other places have them.
  6. There are 90 degree fittings, which you could point away from each other.
  7. Yes, you'll still want it for the heat and A/C if equipped. The reson is that it stores vacuum for times when you accelerate. Without it, you'll have wierd problems like the vents all going to defrost when accelerating up a hill becuase of the loss of vacuum to the system.
  8. Just curious if anyone has seen this before. I had the familiar dash indicator on with headlights on the right side of my truck, which i tracked down to the RF signal. When I removed the bulb, the dust that used to be the ground tab came out with it. Anyway, I decided to fix the left side too since the lens was busted out and the bulb glass was broken off when I got the truck. So I put a new bulb in and I noticed that the lights are backwards. Meaning that the turn signal is the dim part of the bulb and the parking lights are the bright side of the bulb. I've double checked and the bulb only goes in one way, so I'm sure I've put it in the socket properly. I'm kind of stumped since I see no signs of the socket being replaced, or any cuts/breaks in the wires.
  9. The Mopar/AMC p/n is 83100066. 'Bout $85 from an OEM parts house. Quick question...I checked mine tonight and found it had the new patch harness installed. Does this mean I can use the part number for just the CPS then and save a few bucks? Looks like the CPS is about $38, where as the package is $85. I unplugged it and replugged and viola, it started right up, so I think I know the problem now.
  10. I think I'm going to join the club once I diagnose it for sure...mine died while backing it up yesterday and wouldn't restart. Also noticed it running worse and power was down when I moved it the day before. Sounds like it wants to catch every once and a while, but no joy. I can't find any evidence of the CPS ptach harness either, does anyone have the part number for that package, I can't seem to find it anywhere?
  11. Since I'm new to Renix, I have a quick question for you experts on them. My 88 has a very poor idle on startup when cold, to the point where it will cut off if you don't give it some gas while it's cold. After it runs for a few minutes and starts to warm up, it idles great. I'm assuming it's a coolant sensor or something similar, but I figured I'd ask in case I'm missing something on it. Thanks for your help.
  12. Quick question...does the C4x4 tow hook bracket re-use the factory bumper brackets, or does it replace them? I'm asking becuse I'm getting ready to pull my bumper and replace, trying to figure out if I need to get the new brackets since mine are bent, or if my soon to be tow hook purchase will take care of me. Thanks.
  13. Do you have a part number for this upgrade? I just got my 88 Comanche this weekend and it's exhibiting similar systems. Seems to stumble, but once I give it a little gas its fine until I let it idle for a few seoncds, then gets rougher and rougher until it cuts out.
