  1. I can do Concord, went there to get mine last year.
  2. A meet and greet would be great.
  3. Thanks!! I didn't think to check Cherokee parts.
  4. Does the cooling fan relay on a 88 4.0 use a 5 terminal relay like the fuel pump relay? My plug has 4 wires for the outside terminals, but nothing in the center. The relay is a 4 terminal relay but I can't find any parts places that have one like it. Do I have to go to the dealer for this part?
  5. I'm near I-40/I-95 interchange
  6. I could use the fuel sending unit from the 87 if it's still there. It'll be a few months before I get up that way.
  7. On the blinker problem you should only have 1 black wire match. The other 2 wires should be blue to gray and brown to blue. The wires should be in the same position on the socket as the old one, colors don't matter. Can't help with the rest. Had to replace HL switch when I got it to get the dash lights off bright, and haven't gotten around to checking the electric fan.
  8. Yes, the foam/rubber washer on the socket behind the locking lugs. It was a little loose with just 1 washer, and I didn't want to worry about it falling out of the housing when I'm driving. Now I've got to get some of the retaining screws out that have rusted the heads off.
  9. Yeah, I noticed that too. Thought it was a fault in the dash lights before I found the loose wire at the socket. Also forgot to mention that I had to add the sealing washer from the old socket to the new one to get a tight fit.
  10. Part # 84716 Lists as a Dorman part so you should be able to find it at any parts store.
  11. O'Reilly's has a replacement socket that will work. I had a wire broken flush with the socket and went there looking something to fix it. They had the same socket in the electrical help section. It shows it's for a Ford but it looks the same. Only difference is 2 wires are different. From memory, and don't quote me on this, the blue and brown wires, one is top middle, are in opposite places on the ford socket, DON'T match wire colors!! Hook wires up in the same POSITION they are on the original socket. I'll look for the part # in my receipts and post later if I can find it.
  12. It was the original Pioneer paint stripes, but repairs to rust have covered parts of them up.
  13. There was one spot about 3"x6" on the left side under the door sill that the previous owner fixed. Then he undercoated the entire truck with locktite extend rust treatment. I'll eventually find a reason to pull up the carpet to look for any more.

  15. Just wanted to thank the CC for being here!! I picked up my '88 MJ Pioneer last month, been looking for a while and finally got lucky and found one close by. With all the help and info here, I got all the gremlins out. That gave me the chance to use it on my trip to OH last week. 1600 miles and no worries or problems. Just didn't get to try the 4wd out cause they didn't get the snow that was called for. I fixed the blower motor,(had a new motor in it but needed new resistor), vent controls,(had vacuum line hooked to blue vent line), radio, (plug cut off), interior lights,(needed new ones), and a new headliner to put in this weekend (thanks to SMS), with all the info from the MJ masters on here. Replaced all the shocks and emission vacuum lines. Working on the rest of the ground refresh. Main problem now is fixing the gas seep around the sending unit. Put in new o-rings, (thanks again), but still seeps. Probably need to replace tank and get sender rebuilt. Has lots of rust since it was originally a NY truck, still has the snow plow attatchment. And here she is; 88- 4.0 renix- auto floor shift w/console- 4wd- 111k- d35 rear end- factory bedliner. Looking forward to learning a lot and getting deeper in debt fixing her up.
