  1. You pay the freight,I've got a gate at home I'm not gonna use.I'll ship the handle to you. Post or pm me your zip code,I'll get ups charges Monday and pm you.
  2. That's pretty slick. If I had a nickel for every hour I've spent removing hubs,I'd.... still be poor. But I would have spent a lot more time Jeeping and less prying and beating. Thankyou for the tip.Pete needs to make that a sticky for all us beginners.
  3. I have this one http://www.performanceproducts4trucks.c ... pid=102343 http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11287 Paid like $150 for it before I found you guys and learned that I can actually build s&^t. :wrench: All ya'll did nice jobs on yours, thanks for the pics. possum, nice shoes. :D Keep showing them,I'm gettin ideas. I've looked for a roll bar since I got my mj. Found one and one only, scrapyard in Cal,$150 plus shipping,(to SW Fl  ).Decided I'd make my own, and I really like Pete's.I don't have a bender, but I'm thinking one would make a perfectly good Xmas gift. :beerhead: My girlfriend has been made aware of this fact. :brows: Thus my questions. And thanks Pete,I'm sure I will have more. Looked at your photo album.Awesome stuff.Someday I'll get to the rocks.
  4. Pete, Sitting here going through old posts, being a noob. Is there a thread on your build of this roll bar/spare carrier.? I would like to build something similar, not for safety, more for lights and looks and tie downs, and I really like it. If not, how's it fastened to the bed? Thanks, Tracy.
  5. I like the color. :D Goofy Grape, same as mine.
  6. Thankyou,gentlemen. I'll get to it shortly.
  7. I didn't get to work on the bumper yet. Noticed a nasty leak at rear transfer case seal. I thought it would be easier to remove the extension and do the seal on the bench. It was. While it was apart, I noticed the rear main shaft bearing is corroded, has play, and is noisy. It appears to be held in with a snap ring on the mainshaft. Is that all,or is it pressed onto the shaft or into the rear housing.Which does unbolt, btw. In other words, can I replace it myself, under the truck? Thanks,as always.
  8. Assuming you're replacing diff gears? They don't need to be "set up". Make sure you put the side shims and caps back in the same place and orientation you took them out. And,what mvusse said. You had to come along it out,it'll be as nasty going back in.Be real careful with the side shims that you don't damage them,or then you will have a setup to do. Why the question about the gears tearing themselves up? Are you replacing them because they already were? If so ,you need to find out why,or yeah, you might be doing it again shortly.
  9. How did I get from "can spell Comanche " to "Comanche fan"? Did I do something wrong? And can I put in an avatar and signature at this point? And now that it's been mentioned, had I known then what I know now,I might not have cut mine up either.
  10. Man,that is just not right :jump:
  11. Sorry,I assumed that was a given.
  12. Yes,you need a big pry bar,pry against the housing, tap the pry bar with a hammer. It should knock out. Sometimes they're in there pretty good. Look through this article,it'll show you. http://www.4x4xplor.com/aussielocker.html

    Here's my junk.

Whatever you all think is best, is fine with me.I'll find it. If you really wanna see me hack up a brand new Tomken front bumper and try to put it in the back,Ill pic it. I just figured I'd better get the mj up here somewhere so's ya'll know that I really honest to goodness do own one.

    Here's my junk.

As promised. '88 mj,4.0,5 spd BA10,30 and 35,SOA,3.55 LSD rear, Aussie locker front,4.5"lift.Goodyear M/TR 32x11.50x15. Other mods are obvious,I think. This weekend project, rear bumper. Is a 4X6" Tomken front bumper, reciever for winch,D-ring mounts, will be cut to fit between bedsides, tucked in tight to the body, and raised about level with bed floor. More on that as it gets accomplished. Thanks for having me.
  16. no,no,not outdo, just what we have to wheel in. I'd kill to drive up a hill or over a rock. We've got neither.Lots of mud though. Going to No Fl in Oct,Ocala, place called Hardrock Park. Scared shirtless, they got HILLS. But I'll get to meet BLHTAZ,hopefully. Should be a cool trip.
  17. Don't like to do that often.Unlike you guys up north, I have almost no rust, and would like it to stay that way. And I still have carpeting, which is a total beeeeyotch drying out every time. Anyway, that's what we wheel in all summer here in the everglades,so don't be too concerned about a little water dripping in the hood vents. Your Jeep won't mind.
  18. Like the tread design, should stay fairly clean. Don't like the lack of side lugs. Tell us how you doooo.
  19. Still at work. Copy and paste this address in your browser, see if it works. Nope, just clik,it made a link. Your mj will stand that much water easy. And at that point,I don't think water getting in hood vents is gonna hurt much. :brows:
  20. Not from work, sorry. I've said I'd post my heep on here since I joined. I will do it this weekend without fail. Just a show off pic in deep water anyway. I'll get it up here and some posers,so you all can have a laugh. You could always join our forum. :D It's small, but nice people. We gould always use more input. Caloosajeepers.com edit.I'll get the vents too.
  21. No problems with water in the vents.I live in So FL. Most of our offroading is done in the swamp. I have a snorkel for that reason. As far as waterproofing for offroad,I took apart every electrical connection I could get too, plug wires, rim of dist cap, coated liberally with dielectric grease. I also empty a can of silicone spray into the engine compartment before I go out. (Makes it a lot easier to get the mud off afterwards too.) Also is my daily driver, rains daily in the summer,if any water gets in the vents it hasn't caused any problems yet. http://caloosajeepers.21.forumer.com/vi ... php?t=1196 Here's a link just to give you an idea of what our offroading is like, not a lot of hills or rocks, lotsa mud and water. Mine's the maroon mj that's bed deep. Drive through that kind of stuff all day. Fun,fun.
  22. Not to step on any toes,(ie,Brent),we're both in the same situation.I work in parts @ Gulf Coast Dodge, Ft.Myers,Fl.Been in dealerships 36 yrs,Mopar for 8 yrs. (GM for 14 yrs BTW). I am usually logged on here at work. If you guys are getting parts from BLHTAZ,I would not offer to do that. His gig. :brows: But if he's busy and anyone has questions pertaining to oem stuff I have no problem trying to help out. Or if you all would rather I mind my own business, let me know.
  23. As always ,no pics.I'll post some, promise.I got mine from Gen-right, cut 2@4" x 15" holes with an air cutter, high speed grinder lookin' dealie.Worked fine. Be sure and paint the cut edges. As far as placement, somewhere on the interweb is an article where some guy taped strips of rag all over th outside of his xj hood, and a bunch of temp sensors inside, then drove it. Concluded the best placement is toward the rear corners of the hood. I put mine about 3" from the rear and just inside the ridge lines on either side. Runs about 190 to 105 on the road, never gets above 210 wheeling at 3 mph for 2 or 3 hours.Used to be you couldn't touch the hood when off road,it got so hot. I think they're probably one of the most useful additions I've made to the heep. Hope that'll help.
  24. As a very new member of this forum,I'd like to say thanks,I agree with everything that's been thrown out here on this thread. Also to thank all of you for your help, I'm new to Jeeping and 4 wheeling, and enjoying wheeling and working on my junk much more than I would have without it. Please don't ever let ComancheClub forum turn into Pirate. And now that that's all been said,I'll go back and check out Comanche Club.I guess I should become a real member instead of just sucking info out of you guys, someday I might even have something to contribute. :D
