martin809 replied to 19comanche87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If someone can get a pic of the back of their compressor and tell me where the top or bottom line goes that would be a great help. Not sure If have this correct. Also tell me which port to add R134a too. BTW it is a 92 Comanche. 4.0 -
Air Conditioning Problems 87 Comanche
martin809 replied to 19comanche87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have changed over my compressor, drained and or changed all parts. I know I need the retro kit to fill with R134 and I have that. The valves in the kit fit both ports on the back of the comp. how do I know which one to fill? I realize that the can will only fit one port, but seeing as the port will screw on both valves which one do I screw it on. I hope this makes sense. Pics would be better but I am not at home. -
A C Compressor Help Needed
martin809 replied to Jeep Driver's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I received most of my parts also. Where are you at on this Jeep Driver. I was pulling the old off today and noticed I have to but one line. I am ordering it tonight. Also Zach posted 4.5oz of mineral oil. I see that is for R12. Would it be the same for Ester or Pag. Does anyone know wich Pag oil to use? It comes in three viscosities. -

Following this, I will take this on very soon. -
My ZJ is a 97. 3 in lift on 30's Any Bracket from a 96 up will work correct? Does it matter ZJ or XJ, A quick search and they look like the same bracket.
-
Thanks benjy_26. When I did my ZJ I didn't have to change anything. That's why I thought the same for my MJ, but I was wrong.

I searched and could not find the answer to my question. I have swapped a 99 intake manifold in my 92 Comanche. I don't believe the power steering pump res or bracket are going to work, is this correct? I am guessing I need the bracket and res out of a 99 Cherokee. Any help is appreciated for the Comanche gurus

I need a driver side seat cover and adjustment lever for a seat like this. I really only need the top half, but I understand if you will only sell the whole cover. PM me and let me know if you can help.

Cover King Seat Covers
martin809 replied to jpdriver1's topic in Vendors- members making products for MJs
Does Cover King make covers for the above seat? I am trying to figure out if I want to go with these or my bench. The only problem with my drivers bucket is has a tear on the left side. About 2 inches long and it drives me crazy. The above picture is not mine....just look like my seats -

Any pictures of the bench seat? -
Thanks, I didn't think about those. I checked out others like the clear tubing, but just not sure about that.

Just wondering, what have you used to replace the A/C heat tubes behind your dash. I am talking about the hoses that go to the vents. The ones the air goes through. Hope this makes sense. Thanks for your help

So you didn't pay attention to what all of us have been telling you, and you didn't use a relay. I can tell you what's going to happen, because I did the same thing over 30 years ago with a full-size Cherokee. The headlight circuit doesn't have a fuse, there's a circuit breaker built into the switch. That switch and circuit breaker are designed to carry the amperage load of TWO headlights, plus the parking lights and taillights. By addiing two driving lights to the circuit, you have now almost doubled the amperage that's being carried by the headlight circuit -- and thus by the circuit breaker in the switch. I'll give it about six to eight months, if you use the auxiliary lights very much, before you burn out the headlight switch and the circuit breaker starts tripping open while you're driving. I absolutely promise you that having your headlights suddenly shut off while you're cruising along on a strange road on a dark night is NOT an experience you want to repeat. However ... unless you have a way to shut off those auxiliary lights, the experience WILL repeat, because whenever you run the headlights and the auxiliary lights you WILL be overloading the circuit. Why do you bother coming here and asking for advice, when people who know how this stuff works give you good advice and you proceed to ignore it? Many of us have been around for awhile, and we've already made the mistakes you haven't even thought about yet. As to your inspector and legality -- if you run a stop sign and don't get a ticket, does that make it legal to run stop signs? I've given you the law, and explained it to you. It's up to you whether or not you want to be legal. Since it's no more difficult to do it right than it is to do it wrong, I just don't understand your insistance on doing it wrong. But ... it's your life, and it'll be your ticket. At least you won't be able to blame it on The Comanche Club for telling you to do it wrong. I too learned this back in the mid 80s. I had lights on top of my Blazer and kept burning switches. I did not know about relays at the time. lesson learned. :agree:
