here is samson today. a fitting picture. the feeding tube is out and he is eating chicken and rice. he is now eating better than me :D
-
this is a good thing, samson is laying in his regular pose for a scratch. we think sam is recovering nicely. he should be able to come home by friday or saturday. they just need to get him off the IV and the feeding tube, back to regular food and water. since were showing all our dogs, i can't forget about murphy! as a puppy they both love the longboard!
-
Samson may possibly be getting better. steph said this morning he is more alert and wanting his usual scratch. she should be talking to the doctor soon. we should know more very soon!! notice the ball in mouth, that is a sure sign.

can't wait to see their next build

thanks everyone for the kind words. samson does have pacriatitus. the prognosis is looking on the up side. we will just have to wait and see. The nice thing abo ut this place is we can go visit for long periods of time. they roll in the IV machine, lay down a blanket and let him hang out with us as long as we want. i couldnt get out of work til about two thirty, but went over there after that. i think it really helps that we are there when he wakes up. we left about a half hour ago. steph will be back over there in the morning when i go to work. if he picks up and does well, he could be home as soon as friday. by the way samson in 9 years old. oh, no typo $8500 is correct. well worth it when he gets better.

So last wed. our golden retriever started throwing up. we decided to take him to the vet shortly after. We finally found out a few days later he had an obstruction in his stumac. so to surgery he went. We brought him home on Sunday, but yesterday he started throwing up again. We took him back and now they think he has pancreatitus. We absolutely love this dog. he isnt the sharpest tool in the shed, but he has a big heart. We have spent $8500 since last wed. trying to save our friend. Last night we, fiance' and i, had to have the talk about how much is too much $. Anyone been through this?

have you tried to fix that yet??

ive heard of people gettin the wobbles in 2wd trucks. its more of a loose, out of wack front end thing then being 2wd or 4wd. ill tell you from my experience, all hell breaks loose, the steering wheel knocks back and forth really fast and super hard. i think its actually hard to see, cause your brain gets rattled pretty hard. one thing i will say, is it hasnt thrown me out of control, ive always been able to slow down to like 10mph to get it to stop (safely). kinda pisses people on the freeway off a bit and slows traffic down. i can't imagine what would happen if i would have been on a tight turn when it happend. i wonder if anyone has died due to the death wobble. when testing to see if it was gone, i would get up really early in the morning when there was no traffic to check it out.

maybe time for the adjustables :brows:
-
just wanted to share my joy of being death wobble free, didnt think it would get technical  4" of lift seems like alot to not change the LCA, maybe some adjustables. i know they only made 2 different shim sizes for these. are you planning on making some? the thickest one ive seen is about 1/4" (thats a guess though) doesnt seem like enough.
-
i know the feeling :D I'm still a little nervous on bumps doing 80mph, but hopefully that will go away (the nervousness) death wobble sucks!!!! the only reason i didnt have to do the lcu's was because i aready changed em a few months ago, the lift started all this, but worth it now. lets see if the new 33 x 10.5 x 15 will effect anything, when i can afford them that is. ;)

i found the cure for death wobble!!! well at least mine :D :rotfl2: A) aligned B) balanced tires C) new HD track bar and bracket D) change all tie rod ends then re-align E) change u-joints F) change caster G) new upper control arms-part of F i guess H) new UCA axle bushings I) realign I am freeway worthy!!!! I'm not freaked out getting on the 405 with the hords of cars going 80mph. I HAVE DONE IT!!!!!!!!!!! :jump: two months and lots of money later. i see the light at the end of the post lift tunnel

as far as a west coast thing, i havnt seen one go for over $2000 on craigslist here and that one had a lot less miles. i got mine for $500 with a newly rebuilt motor and 100,000 on the clock. that is one fine looking body though, wish mine looked that clean. :D

control arm bushings 2wd vs 4wd
JEEPERZ replied to JEEPERZ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
well thats a bummer, is this a common problem? so your saying it came off the line this way? if thats the case, then i don't really need to worry about it i guess. which side to i set to proper caster angle :D -
control arm bushings 2wd vs 4wd
JEEPERZ replied to JEEPERZ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
thanks man! i ordered a new new control arm poly bushing set when i first got the mj, they sent me 2wd bushings. now ive replaced the control arms and all i need new is the uppers on the axle, so i guess i won't be returning them after all. my castor angle is different by a couple of degrees on each side. you think the bushings could be the culprit? thanks for the info  -
are 2wd and 4wd upper control arm bushings the same? the axle side. anyone know off hand?

wow

i havnt posted in awhile, waiting for parts and rain to stop. I got my new HD track bar mount and new upper control arms. last night i put both of them on. took it for a drive and no death wobble!!!!!!! between changing the caster agle, new TRE's thoughout, alignment i think I'm good. the weird thing with the caster angle is one side is different than the other by about 1 1/2 to 2 degrees. I'm thinking this may be because of the rubber bushings on the axle for the UCA's are rotten and almost falling out. any thoughts??? my caster angle is still at about 8 degrees, so i may work on it a bit, when i change out the bushings. now I'm on to the drive shaft and u-joints. ive never messed with u joints before so this should be interesting. i went to the dealer today and paid way to much for the yj slip yoke pictured below, but i just wanted to get started right away. i think i may go buy a vise as well, sounds a whole lot easier with one for the u joints. I'm getting there, its a slow road, but a fun one, can't wait to go wheelin

nice video

Rusty uses the cheapest Chinese TRE he can lay his hands on, that's why they break. To get the truck back on the road, just buy a replacement TRE from an auto parts store and stick it in there. Does the driveway have an approach angle? Were you turning in when it broke, or going straight? It's quite possible to flex out a suspension turning into a steep driveway. The TRE shouldn't break ... but with cheap Chinese parts, anything is possible (except good performance). When you install a new one, be sure to check the tapered hole in the frame bracket. If there's any crud in the hole, it can prevent seating the TRE in the bracket, and that could be one reason for not being able to tighten the castle nut far enough to insert the cotter pin. FWIW, I would never drive a vehicle w/o the cotter pin. Loc-tite is good stuff, but I'm not brave enough to use it as a replacement for a mechanical safety like a cotter pin. drive way was flat, i was turning, backing out into the alley. thanks for the heads up for the TRE locally, don't know why i didnt think of it. I'm still stuck on post lift stuff, can't wait to go wheeling!!!!!

it was for my 5 1/2" lift. i did talk to them when i ordered it and they said it would be ok.
-
there were two concerns, first was the broken bar TRE, the lock nut for the track bar to the TRE kept coming loose and that is why rustys said it broke, they say i should have used lock tit on the lock nut. i was not flexing it at all, it was in the driveway as jeepcomj said. i havnt had it off road since the lift. i lifted it about 5 1/2" in the front. and soa in the rear. the second concern was the castle nut. i couldnt see the hole at all yet. so i would have to have turned the castle nut alot more. this was a secondary concern that i thought may have contributed to the breakage. but sounds like it wasnt.
