  1. well if it wasn't a crappy photo I would have known that :) I thought we were talking girlfriend there.
  2. if you go discs you need the caliper mount, and you can use crown vic discs. read this: http://gojeep.willyshotrod.com/HowtoRearDiscs1.htm Marcus did rear discs for $85
  3. I ran my 87's to a switch and ran it off the relay. Don't expect to get the full CFM rating from an aftermarket one through the stock wiring, it's crappy and induces voltage drop. I'm like pete, I like running it all the time, the T-stat keeps the motor at the right temp. When the Jeep goes into 4-Lo I just turn it on and forget about it.
  4. I second the stock XJ shackle, that should lower it about 3/4" Exploder leafs is an interesting idea though. Could be great for flex on the SOA for cheap.
  5. you find it let me know. My other option was to go and get it cut by the local vinyl guy, but he can't do the stripes that long on his machine. I guess reproducing comanche striping is something that's not an "in demand" thing.
  6. less pictures of the truck and more pictures of the help.
  7. look into the megasquirt. Open source fuel injection is cool :)
  8. with all the trouble you're going through to source brake parts why not convert it to discs?
  9. the guage grounds through the sensor. To test the guage pull the wire, it should peg, then grounf the wire to the block and it should go to 0. I'm guessing sender.
  10. did you pull the temp sender and clean out the threads? it grounds through the block, and the threads usually get nasty and it has a weak ground. That's what was causing my temp guauge to not read properly.
  11. I'll wheel in they're front yard, in 2WD, and the wheel cranked all the way to the left. I've found that donuts are way cooler when you're locked.
  12. my deal is this. I've seen trails that were jeep only, they're not rutted excessivly and the area around the trail was clean and untouched. Then I've seen ATV trails. Asshats on ATVs at wide open throttle kicking up dirt/rutting the trail, and taking shortcuts through the surrounding land because they're small enough that they can. So which is more damaging?
  13. the changover was mid year 89. Take a look at the trans itself, if it splits from front to rear it's the goat, if it splits into 3 sections through it's cross section it's an AX-15. Is there anything wrong with your 5 sp? If it's an AX-15 I would be willing to drive and get that. Junk yards around here want $400 for a used trans.

    pure madness

That's BS. Gimme a number, I'll call him and say you'll be spreading them around to Jeepers that can't find such creatures. $200 isn't horrible, as long as they're in good shape with usable drums and backing plates. If they're in piss poor shape and need totally rebuilt I'll just go and find an 8.8 I can get those for cheap. If anyone wnats an 8.8 with caliper brackets, I've got a wide variety of gear ratios to choose from at the local yard. $200 and I'll go and get one, we'll even work out delivery.
  15. for thse that I teased earlier. "holley part #543-105 is an idle air control motor for holley's pro-injection system," and is a direct swap for this part for around $28 at AutoZone vs. $125+ at the dealership!
  16. well I put it in last night. Works as expected. I didn't realize how bulged out of shape my old one had become. I was going to keep it for a trail spare but I don't even think it's worth that, I'll just order another q-tec one to keep on hand.
  17. it wouldn't surprise me if it was the same motor, it was the same control system, and I know a 4.0 TB will fit a 2.5.
  18. crank position sensor. classic symptom.

if he trully does have that many from MJ's then see if he would cut us a break on pricing for some sort of group buy. I could put 4 of them in the MJ. I know I'd certainly be interested in a d44 as next years project. MMM, d44 with discs and an ARB :)
  20. I saw it local once on the Mansfield public TV station. Insane. These people are making like 30 HP out of a Briggs motor. They do solid front suspensions and some had coilovers. The unlimited classes were hitting speeds 60-70 MPH on a dirt round track, and leaning in to the turns like it was motocross.
  21. Pulling dents? why bother, just gonna put more in it.
  22. I read somewhere on NAXJA that there's a universal Holly IAC that will work for the 4.0, and it was something stupid cheap. $30 springs to mind. Might try searching on that.
  23. That's not a trail, it's a damned road. I've got county roads that are in worse shape/narrower than that "Trail"

depends on price. you're 4 hours from me. if' it's a helluva deal I would be willing to come up there for a D44, maybe two. I could cart some down to OH for others to pickup, parts train style.
  25. the "world championship" is held in my backyard. Mansfield OH hosts it, about 18 miles south.
