  1. well took it to a rad shop an they tested for the pressene of combustion chamber gasses in the coolant and bingo headgasket gone. anyone want to buy an 89 2wd with blown headgasket.
  2. not sure how long seepage has been there. as far as pressure test are you saying cyl leakdown or coolant system check? i did the t stat in jan and put a 195 in
  3. ah and there is some seepage on the pass sie of the motor between the head and block
  4. sorry guys just got in off the highway. the truck is the 89 i forgot to change my signature. so it has the stock closed system my bad its the stupid one with the bottle up by the fender i refilled the system tonight and it seems to work fine the 4 miles i drove it home. however the $#!& that is coming up through the bottle is a gross brownish green colour. the water pump seeems to work fine as it moved the coolant as i filled it. gpoing to take it out for a good tour and see what it does would it be n m interest to take it to a shop and get the system flushed? thanks marty :Canadaflag:
  5. So in a long line of cooling questions and problems here it is. Coming home from a friends place the other night on the 401 running right at 100kmh i noticed the truck start to heat up! did not get to hot so was nt too worried. then when i pulled into the drive way and shut the truck off i could hear it bubling away hmmmmmmmm. took the truck out today did not mak it 4 blocks and the temp gauge was maxed SOB so i looked under the hood and realized i know sfa about open cooling systems. so with the information could you guys please help me figure out what the issue is hear? thanks ooooooo and another thin is i barely have heat like not enough to defrost the windows in the winter and even when the truck was overheating it was still not hot? please help winter is hear and its cold. oh byt he way it is a 89 eliminator 2wd 4.0 5speed. thanks guys marty :Canadaflag:
  6. there is a few things to keep in mind when putting a radio in you truck it is best to find a cb shop your local truck stop can point you in the proper direction there. things like coax cable length anntena placement anntena type radio power all help in having a dependable radio that gets out more than 10 ft. on my jeep i have a 4 ft fibreglass anntena off of a pete i used to drive and run the standard 18 ft of coax and my radio is a uniden pc 78 thats been bumped up to 42 watts peak so it works great gets out about 10 miles ;)
  7. ya i thought tha i will look anyway but it did not blow hot before the mishap. on really cold days it makes just enough heat to keep the windshield clear but i still have to wear a touque and gloves and parka i guess i should tear into the dash and have a look see but i will check the vac cannister first thanks.
  8. ya it only blows heat through the ddefrost and dash vents and freezing cold to the floor when that is selected. i am kinda dissapointed my 87 4cyl made amazing heat. gonna just keep fiddleing with the damn thing
  9. i didnt flush but i dropped the coolant and changed the t-stat had a hard time getting the air out not sure if it is all out or not nt the level stays the same and doesnt fluctuate
  10. ok so here is the deal the heat on my 89 2wd 6cyl is not working the motor does not get that warm either the temp gauge goes to about 75 degrees celcius thats like 167 fahrenheit and thats loaded, empty, idle, wide open doesnt matter its gets a little warm but not really. any ideas would be helpful. also does any one have experience with the fibreglass fenders he sell for the manche do they fit well? i want to build a semi prerunner deal and like the looks of masscrawlers mj. i had a little incident with the ditch up north and need some front end beutification. and i bent the axle and had to replace it with one out of my spare truck. thanks marty :Canadaflag: this is the garage door in my garage -18 and snowing..nice just for fun this is what a turbo on my pete looks like when it lets go at 20,000 rpm
  11. I had a 95 nissan hardbody 2wd prerunner style and we used to jump it out of my friends berry patch i will see if we can dig up the pics somewhere we measured it out at like 42 feet distance i cut the top of my head open on the roof it was a blast

    towing

Het guy just bouncing some ideas off of you. I am moving back to thunder bay On and am gonna be towing my 87 2wd with my 89 2wd no i thought about putting the 87 on one of those u haul dollies backwards so i don't need to remove my shaft. but i think that is gonna get a bit hairy on the triwsties running along lake superior. so i guess i will be stuck putting the truck on forwards and removing the shaft. just looking to see if anyone else has towed there manche with another and wondering what i should expect. :Canadaflag: thanks for the help guys marty. When in doubt tach her out
  15. Well today was fun had to go to toronto to load this morning it took me 4.5 hours to drive 93 kilometers. there was maybee 2 inches of snow on the 401. I'm from thunder bay and the only thing that slows down traffic like that is 20+ cm's of snow, this morning was ridiculous. I hate southern ontario can't wait to go north. :Canadaflag: marty
  16. On an trip just recently I got 26mpg on premium fuel running at 70 mph that with an 89 eliminator 5speed 2wd 3:07 rears :Canadaflag: marty
  17. go to montanna silversmiths for belt buckles I think it would only be in the $250 apiece range
  18. and I like to use the 130watt driving lights to flash people who don't dim there lights when approaching me lesson learned. :Canadaflag: marty
  19. yes I just stole constant power for my signal wire. Everything else is the same as the factory fog light system but now it works when i want it to and not just on low beams like stock. i thought I was pretty smart for doing it the way I did. :Canadaflag: Marty
  20. I was in Winnipeg last weekend and I was -6'c don't ask me to convet that i think it would be 21'f pretty cold I lived there and we had weeks of - 40 and that doesnt need converting with a wind chill of -55 thats pretty friggin cold.
  21. I used the fog lamp switch and took the supply power wire out and used the constant power wire from the cargo lamp circuit. I thought I might have to add another relay.. project for next weekend. :Canadaflag: Marty
  22. I just added some driving lights to the front of my truck and used the fog light wiring that came on it. now the manual says it is a relay'd system so I was just asking if you guys think this will be good for me and not cause any problems. To solve the low beam only problem i used the constant power for the cargo light switch that is not being used and put it in the fog lamp conector instead of the low beam swithced power that is usally used. I have already used them a bunch. they work great. They are Dick Cepek 130 watt sealed beams. :Canadaflag: Marty
  23. Here are some more pics of my 89 eliminator. I just took it from Guelph ON through Michigan up to the Sault across to Thunder bay On. Which is home for me. Then off to Winnipeg to watch the PBR event there and then all the way back again. Which was about 5000 km (3100 miles) truck perfect and I averaged 25mpg. Which I think is pretty good. the truck is stock with a rusty's air tube and filter a header and performance cat with 3 inch cherry bomb and exhaust all the way back. I want to get some spacers for the front to level it out. these are the new light I mounted on a small bracket I fabbed up out of some old stock I found at my parents house On the side of the hwy in manitoba figured it would be a decent pic And here she is working My friends tractor quit on the road and he didnt believe the manche would pull it. Well i proved him wrong didnt get out of first gear but i still pulled it 2 km to the house up a pretty good grade. Ah the power of the manche! :Canadaflag: Marty
  24. the same thing happened to me it ended up being the computer. same year engine mine is a 5 speed its for sale by the way marty :Canadaflag:
  25. I just put a set of NGK Vpower into the eliminator, and it seemd to pull through the midrange better. Or I just may be crazy  . I have always used NGK with little problem. But in a Jeep things are always different. :Canadaflag: Marty
