  1. When I was putting my Comanche back together after swapping in the HO Harness and Dash I was unable to locate my Drivers side seat belt female end.... the one that sticks through the seat. My Comanche is a 88 and I had some from a 87 so my intention was to put those in... however the female end on the 87 is too small for the 88 male end. Picked up a 98 XJ and it was also too small and found what I believe to be a 94 XJ and again ..... too small. My Comanche was originally a bucket seat truck so I don't know if that makes a difference but was wondering if anyone knew what years interchanged and if the XJ female part will swap in..... Thanks in advance.
  2. Thanks for the input guys.....I'll stay with the Cheif decals which was my earlier decision... but ran across the Honcho stuff and thought I'd get your guy's opinion, also helps that I'm a retired Navy Chief.....
  3. Thanks brod..... I've been leaning that way also..... but I always had a soft spot for those Honcho's.....
  4. Thanks.... I was just checking, I really like the way your is done and was just wondering if he might be interested. I can get them done around here but it's much easier with a pattern.....
  5. I've been on the fence about my Decal Package.... I know I want something custom but I'm torn between the Comache Chief Decals I posted earlier or these for Honcho that I made a few months ago. So Honcho or Comanche Chief?
  6. I was wondering if your buddy who does Fabrication would consider offering rear side armor like you have that wraps around and uses a flat style tail light. Nobody offers this and I want one bad. A buddy of mine has the same deal on his TJ but had a shop make it out of aluminum to save weight......
  7. I made my own then had my buddy do the body work and prime it while I wait on paint..... check out my build thread the pics are about half way down the first page.... http://comancheclub.com/topic/38254-project-comanche-chief/
  8. Thanks Hayduke.... I like the way the Comache looks just the way it is and hate to bob it.... this is just the kind of stuff I'm looking for.....
  9. "Bobbing the bed" is when you cut a portion of the bed out and reweld the bed back together. This is done mainly to improve departure angle which is exacltly why I'm considering it. I'm not sure I love the look but do like the fact I will drag less on departure. If I do this it will only be 4 inches which is all I can gain due to the Shackle limiting the amount I can gain. Just google "Bobbing the bed" and you'll find a ton of stuff on it.
  10. Really, really nice MJ...... love the old school Ground Hawgs..... congrats
  11. Got another Offroad park Opening July 6th so me and the guy's headed up to Kings Knob near Barboursville, WV to check it out. This place was designed mostly Bounce Buggies...... Met up with this buggy and rode with him most of the day. http://www.highcountryoffroad.org/forum/MGalleryItem.php?id=2588 But also alot of hill climbs and drop offs... Here is my MJ early in the day getting ready to break over a mountain top.... My brother Jon took this pic because he wanted no part of riding down in the passengers seat..... http://www.highcountryoffroad.org/forum/MGalleryItem.php?id=2583 Here is a pic of me attempting one the Bounce buggy hill climbs, it took me a couple attempts to build up my nerve but I made it on my 3rd attempt. I probably would have backed off that time also but I was so far up I was more afraid of backing off than I was of hitting the steepest part..... and just to complicate matters it had just stopped raining.... http://www.highcountryoffroad.org/forum/MGalleryItem.php?id=2576 All in all we had a great time..... if your ever in the area check this place out..... As for the Build I can't take it to paint until I decide on whether or not to Bob the bed 4 inches...... so please post up your opinions and if possible a quick explanation why......
  12. Thanks..... glad to hear your keeping yours..... very nice MJ.
  13. Mud is alot of fun but hard on the equipment.... WV also has alot of mud and I spent my first couple years wheeling in it, but then I found Harlan KY and I've learned I would much rather play in the rocks than in the mud.....
  14. Checked out a new Offroad Park in Southern WV that will be opening up in July of this year called IVY. Hatfield and McCoy trail system is backing the new park and I have to say I enjoyed it more than an earlier trip to Harlan, KY. Here's a few pics for the guys who wheel their rigs and might be interested in checking it out. Rained alot the days before this ride and I was on the hook early trying to get up out of a ravine they call ladder This was my second and luckily last time on the hook.... slid over into a hole and took the hook to keep the shiny side up..... Working an area called glass And a random ditch
  15. Thanks Jennsen.... right now my exhaust ends behind the muffler, I plan to route it up through the bed floor and into the forward part of the bed.
  16. Very nice rig.... with as many hours as I have in mine I can't begin to image how much of your life you've spent working on your Jeep. Also thanks for taking the time to post up some pics...... Maybe next time your under your rig you could take some measurements..... 1. Length of lowers - eye to eye 2. Length of lowers - eye to eye 3. Distance between uppers front and rear 4. Distance between lowers front and rear
  17. That's awsome..... any chance I could get a couple pics of how you set it up? Most of this is trial and error.... the more info I can start with the less "Error" I'll end up with....
  18. Good call..... and like you said let her pick it out that way she makes the decision and now she's invested in it.
  19. Thanks Gavin.... the only thing that would concern me would be the benifit of increasing my wheelbase. I like the idea of less departure angle between the back of the tire and the rear shackle. However, increasing the wheelbase lengthens my turning radius in the woods and decreases my breakover distance. I did enjoy reading your build thread.
  20. So the Chevy 63 has less spring behind the centerbolt and more in front? And your saying it gave you 8.5 inches of lift? I assume your SOA? I'd be very interested if you have some pics.
  21. Thanks, that's what I figured he did. I did that to my Camaro interior and it didn't hold up very well either. The second time around I laid the parts out in the hot sun for about an hour to open up the material then used Bullydog adhesive promoter and still couldn't get the plastic paint to wear very well. As for the JK I think my problem is the same problem I have with all the soft tops..... if you've seen one you've seen them all.... no personality.
  22. I love the interior in that truck and have sourced the same color from a XJ..... my only question is do you know how the guy you bought it from matched the factory light grey B Pillar trim with the new darker colored trim? Thanks in advance.... and I'd like to say that is the finest MJ I've ever seen.... Just a thought but it would probably be cheaper to stretch that MJ into a Quad Cab.... JK's are pricey you know.....
  23. Just got back from Harlan KY and my biggest complaint was height (I'm about 7.5 inches of lift). I run a 36 SX on Bead locks so I need at least 5.5 but after going SOA on a 8.8 I got big in a hurry. I'm interested in a triangulated 4 link for functionality but also for the adjustability. With a 4 link I can set ride height at 5.5 and I can bob the bed and increase my departure angle. Like most I've searched but can find little to no info on a MJ 4 link, I plan to start my project this fall so if anyone else gets started earlier than that please take lots of pics and keep a tape measure and scratch pad close. You could save the rest of us a ton of time.........
