Well I kinda have a good jeeping story to tell you all. One day 2 weeks ago a guy at work approached me and asked me " you still messing with Jeeps?" Of course I said " Yeah and why?" Well he proceedes to tell me that he has a Comanche that he wants gone. So a few days later I go and look at it. well I brought it home today.. It is an 87 MJ 2wd Short bed. It has factory buckets, and sliding glass window. The motor runs good, but has an exhaust leak. It also has a weak clutch (think slave cylinder is bad) and the brakes are weak. The best part about this is it was absolutely FREE :D [-] -= Plans for it right now...is to get the get it inspected, throw a cheapo paint job on it, and convert it to 4wd :D Here is a pic of it after it was pressure washed and cleaned up a lil

Jeff... I can empathise with you. Back when I was a rodbuster I had some drop a 36' #9 on my big toe.. broke it in 3 places. SO I cn feel your pain. I will call you in a few to talk trash

SOmetimes I do. It all depends. an example would be june 17/june 18. I got up at 4pm friday, worked 12 hrs, got off work went to the plasma cutters, then came home and went to a MUdbog. I finally went and laid down at 1030 pm sat night. SO up like 30 or so hrs
-
Yeah I can do all that. Let me get some measurements, and get the bumper Blank cut and Make one up. It wil take a few days to get a blank made.. as I am working 12 hr shifts at work.. and the shop that does my cutting is an hour away.
-
SO which styel would you like?
-
It all depends on how close you want it... The one I built for jon is about 1/2 off the body and his sheetmetal from the body hangs down way lower. I wanna say it is about 1/2 or so below the tailgate line. Depending on what you actually want... I can build a flush mount one that would be even with the tailgate, and tuck up between the bedsides.

Thanks Jon for posting the pics... Man you can take some good pics.
-
I didnt take any more pics on it.. maybe Jon (combatcamera) will post up his pics. The brackets were cut out of 1/4 plate.... I think That is plenty thick.... BUT Eddie says he can cut them out of anything up to 1" think steel, But I hate to think How much they would cost cause he would have to drill each hole instead of plasma cutting them. On A side not, A limited porduction run of bumpers will be on the horizon. I have enought tubing to build 3 like I did and one flush mount one... so we shall see.

Well Jon came down from maryland yesterday and we built a bumper. It definately took longer then we expected. Here is a pic of the brackets eddie cut for me, and they worked pefectly. Hopefully Jon will upload his pics... and you all can see what my fab work looks like. Of course as any welder knows.. the pretty text book welds are always behind where you can't se them, and the visisble one don't always turn out perfect

Think it is going to be nice. The main body is 2x4x1/4.. the clevis mounts are made from 2x1 flat bar, and it will be recessed into the bunper all the way to the rear. Also the reciever Hitch will be recessed mounted as well. I will be taking a bunch of pics.
-
For a while now I have been talking baout making some bumpers. Well I am actually going to go through with it now. Tommorow I will be prototyping my first bumper. All the brackets will be CNC Cut. As will the bumper parts. Here is a pic of the fab shop cutting the bumer brackets out on the table I will be posting more pics tommorow of the bumper build.

It is going to be close.. the new floor pan when installed will be touching the seat mounts.. and more then likely I wil have to redo all my seat mounts. BY going flat, it is like giving your self another 1 or so of lift, and since the floor board is all ready cut up.. what diff does it really make  :smart:
-
Here is the t-case and range box assembled... I ended up reclocking it to be even flatter I ended up having to cut my seat bar, and a crap load of floor just to get range box in Here is how much I had to cut by the tape measure This is how much I had to cut when I tried using an empty case for a reference... Keep in mind I still have a t-case drop in plac, and I plan on removing that, so even more will end up getting cut out. My goal is a totally flat bottom
-
After putting the existing 231's input in the range box I was able to go to the PNP with Jeff and pull another t-case. MY 23 spline inputs.. of course machine shop couldnt machint them.. they were too hard Box of parts Starting over... putting short 23 spline in my old case, then reassembling the new long spline t-case with SYE The shift fork that was in my 90 mj was a steel one.. first I ever seen like this
-
I am doing this in my XJ, so I will just high light the important info. I am using the DD machine doubler kit. Here the plate is mocked up on the range box Front output cut off Then I carried the range box and plate to a local machine shop, and 50 bucks later it was welded up. The machine shop used a dancy dancy water cooled TIG and welded the inside as well as the outside. Here is where it got touchy. I thought my 90 mj t-case was a 23 spline setup.. man was I wrong, it was only a 21 spline setup. This is also when I learned that they are 5 different 23 spline input gears  So after one falied attempt at buying the right input, I ended up tearing down my 231 in my xj. Well this was an epic fail situation. The PO must have been in the case and torn it down, cause it was missing the lil plastic shift owrk parts. This case only ended up being good for the input

I was wanting to use MJ leafs cause it will give me a longer stretch.. also MJ leafs are flexier then Xj leafs
-
I need a set so I can do a Wheel base stretch on my XJ. Shipping will be to 23070, and the cheaper the better.

for a simple store bought solution here you go http://store.jksmfg.com/merchant2/merch ... e=FABParts -
you also have to redril the caliper stands as well as the backing plate, and use TJ rubicon plates at that, or you have to cut a spcaer ring. I would assume it would be pretty much the same thing on the AMC 20 since it has a similar design as a d44

I have a complete 2.5 TBI wiring harness out of a 87 engine bay. Not sure if you are looking for the MPFI or the tbi setup
-
It can be done. Having one of them tilt engine levlers help. Basically pul front header panel, radiator and all that stuff. Then pull driveshafts and t-case linkage... then remove all wiring connections.. don't forget the ground straps. The only part that makes it difficult... is the starter tends to always hang on the frame horns. Also disconnect exhaust at the manifold. makes it much easier.

I have a grey bench seat it has a few stains.... but I am willing to travel some too to make the swap. I am located on the coast in VA
