  1. I think it would have looked better if it went to the corners. Also rear rock rails are not always nedded, they are there to stop more corner damage.
  2. Why do I need side protection when I don't have rear lower quarter panels and the upper corners of the bed are armored? What a useless comment? :dunno: I don't see any TJ's out there with corner guards that run wrap around bumpers as well and their corner armour is less thick than mine..... And the mounts are too weak for what? To pull a yacht? :shake: My quarters are cut and I've come awful close to crushing my quarters landing on rocks. The mounts to the body are too weak for even remedial recovery I have to disagree on the mounts... if 5 3/8 bolts per side is weak.. then no one should ever do any recovery efforsts from the front. :hmm: I still want to know where you got the corner guards
  3. It basically gives me mutiple choices for t-case gearing. It also gives me 2wd lo. with my current axle ratios I wil have a 114 to 1 first gear ratio in double low. If I can't crawl up it like that.. I can bounce it off the rev limiter and put on a good show
  4. Real nice.. Would have been better if it was full width. If you want I can get you the info so you can order some CNC cut rear MJ bumper brackets  I really like what you did with your tail lights.. where did yopu get the corner guards?
  5. Yeah restoring the earth isnt cheap. Figure a cheap tree is at least 50 bucks.. plus paying labor to plant it
  6. I havent posted any updates lately so I will post up where I am at. Started to build the x-member here is the repair on the seat bar... Came out really nice if you ask me Here is a pic of the "finished" skid/x-member I also did some trim work on the fenders... Plans are to make some 1/8 plate tube fenders for the front...

    Finally

I think he will be doing a set like that. He normally builds TJ/YJ bumpers, and swing out tire carriers. I have been working on him to get into the XJ/MJ market. He also cuts tabs, flanges, and just about anything else you can think of.

No problem.. He also has MJ rear frame brackets available. Eddie is a great guy to deal with. I have been known to call him on Friday night... Hey I need Blah blah blah cut.... I will be out there tommorow morning.. and he will have them cut.. or designing them to be cut. I got plans to get a set and build a tube bumper off the front

    Finally

Well a few of you know.. I am pals with a fab guy at Ground Pounder Fab.. well Eddie has finally released front frame mounts/bumper brackets. The frame section he used to jig it up came from one of my old Xj's, and he used stock xj tow hook brackets for ideas.... Here is his ad on ebay.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 0450610853
  13. Golf carts are evil.. ask me how I know
  14. I think with a lunchbox locker it would cause wear on the drivers side. therre would never be any ratcheting on the passenger side with a cable setup disengaged. I have run loc-rights in the front of all my rigs, and have had zero issues with them.. I also swap in a one piece shaft on the passenger side
  15. Thanks man.. Well I got some more done. Here it is all painted up, and assembled In order to instal the 231 flipped you have to enlarge the bottom 3 holes, or drill all 6 holes out to 5/8 (thats what I did). Also the dry assembled weight is around 100Lbs so have help By the looks of it, my seat frame mods should be minimum, and I might even be able to repair where I cut out the seat bar on passenger side. Next up is to build a new t-case shifter link age for rear case.. and fix floor, and build a nice x-member foe it.
  16. Got some more work done. I ended up removing and plugging the stock vent, and drilling, tapping and installing a new breather..... After I got the breather installed.. I assembled the doubler. Everything got loc-tited, and RTV'd. After that was done. I threw some paint on it.. cause everyone knows Good guys wear black Tommorow's goal.. install doubler, and driveshafts... and Trim fenders. Then eventually make a new x-member and skid for it Will it ever end
  17. Here is a pic of the driveshafts. Front is 351/2 rear is 26 1/4 I think I have a long shaft for a xj
  18. what you mean? I go Saturday to pick up some more bumper blanks... BUt they will be going on my rigs  So Have I made an improvement or two to the design.. Kinda.
  19. Got one better how about a 60k golf cart ride that is going to require a knee replacement in about 10 yrs. DID I mention I didnt work for 6 months cause of it :help:
  20. I don't know, might be. I know I am going to go by a sticker place and have them remake them before I go and paint the truck... that way I can keep it original looking. I think the graphics look good on it
  21. Yeah it is a 2.5 2wd 5spd.. so yeah... it has a nice rake to it too
  22. Also got some more work done on this today. I removed the t-case drop and got everything in place. Then I took some driveshafts down to the local machine shop to have them made the right lengths. After that I realised I had some sheetmetal I could replace.. and he you go
  23. here are the pics that have bee requested
  24. Well sorry I havent been on here in months.. Life has been hectic since I returned to work. I have had one 40 hr week since my return. The rest have been in excess of 50 hrs with most weeks being 60hrs. And I have been around.. look in the DIY section and you wil see a bumper build I did :smart:
  25. Sure will next time I go outside.. it is stupid hot. I got this rig from the original owner, and nothing has been changed from stock.. so it is what it is. I thought the option package was a touch weird on it... bucket seats, sliding rear window, ruber floor mat. Then you have the decal package. Also the fact that the paint is mostly intact is odd as well.
