  1. I may make a flatbed for my mj, does anyone know how i can go about this in pa so i don't screw myself and have to R title the truck. Also what does a homemade bed need to pass inspection?
  2. actually the aev wrangler was an export which is available with a 2.8 crd
  3. now that is a cool idea
  4. this stinks, i really wanted to keep her original. i called every junkyard in the area that keeps more older than late model vehicles ...one yard had one but he said it is rusty. a few yards even said that they won't take them in because they can't sell the parts.
  5. got a brake light problem...the taillights and turn signals work but when i hit the brake pedal ...nothing. what could it be and how do i fix it
  6. had a few idea's on my bed problem as some of you know the bedsides are shot on my mj. but, the bed tub is clean. Earlier i mentioned about putting a stepside bed on it but, after seeing the ford stepside on one i don't like the way the ford bed looks, and i was told that the s10 step is too much of a pain to attempt. i was left with either a wooden bed or hoping a new bed pops up or ...option 3 was to try and get bedsides from amc 4x4 and find a way to ship them, then find someone to weld them on. idea #1 cut the bed sides off and weld trimmed stepside or trailer fenders onto the outside of the tub. then clean up and paint the outside of the tub. idea #2 cover the rust gaps with diamond plate (thanks for the idea pete)
  7. wow, id love to own A scramble geez you have 2. and in an un jeep question ... is the merkur fast. you don't see many of them anymore. I realize it is a rebadged ford sierra but i have heard good things.
  8. man i wish i could say that... she thinks cars are appliances. and she thinks that i'm silly for wanting one of these "ugly" pickup trucks. she said i have one that is enough. her stance is if i don't "need"it, then there is no point in having it.
  9. ok i mentioned the mj in the boneyard by my house and i wanted to buy it... $400 it runs and has a title. all all it needs is a rear end...the wife said i am not getting it period... its her or the truck .....hmmm tough one!
  10. i have now decided to call my 'manche "project olympic" any way i noticed that my truck has an "open cooling system" was this factory for 88 4cyl or has this been converted?
  11. my bad ...too much crap going on today
  12. ah yes, the rare jeep J50 ...i guess it would be J .50 also, the taillight conversion seems to make it look more like a VW CADDY in that picture.
  13. i knew front fenders are easy. supposedly i can get the cab corners and rockers at advance (the guy behind the counter looked them up and said he could get them...i assume oem) the only thing bedwise is the sides.. the tub is excelent ... amc 4x4 has bedsides for me as soon as i come up with the $$$ . my buddy Andy said he would weld the cab parts which takes care of that (he is an experienced body man. ). As far as the bed goes ill have to get it welded here or ditch the bed alltogether. I was however, thinking of an aluminum bed but who makes the little ones for small trucks? last resort was a wood bed but can this look tasteful? the good and bad thing is there is an XJ at the junkyard near my house, i was gonna buy it for parts but the guy won't sell me the whole truck! not to mention it is a 4x4 long bed (the one i wanted originally) and i have a 4x2 SB. the truck looks fairly rust free from the road...so maybe i can get the cab parts.
  14. ok, so i finally got a tally on what parts i need to replace ill get prices tomorrow when i go get brakes for my s10 1. drivers side rocker 2. passenger side front fender 3. maybe both doors...(probably able to save) 4. both cab corners 5. both bedsides we were underneath, and luckily it is solid underneath .. and oddly ...not that rusty. my question is, how much should i expect to pay for the welding...(i'd do it but i don't know how or have the equipment.) ballpark.
  15. rockhard did you need to have a smoke afterward!!! damn the GT is awsome[/b]
  16. its actually strange, the a and b pillars are still in place. It looks like it was literally the roof and back window that were chopped and replaced with a fabric button down top .
  17. OK, 1, yes it is black ...but not orange. 2, i have seen the truck for myself and will get pic's next time I'm over that way. 3, if your in the Pittsburgh area go see it for your self, it is sitting next to the gulf station on rt 8 north between routes 228 and 910 it has a grey eliminator next to it.
  18. i work with a guy who, as i come to find out, is also into Comanches. he has 2 of them an 89 eliminator that he is using for parts and an 87 LWB metric ton (he thinks its an 87) that he uses to plow... the odd thing is the 87 is a convertible ... he claims that it is factory and that there were only 15 or so made. I have never seen one before that wasn't a hack job done after market or on someones trail rider. I have seen a few factory dodge dakota convertibles, but never a manche....do they really exist like the dually?
  19. I just got this crazy idea .... if i could find a Stepside bed from a Chevy luv how do you think it would look ... in my head i think it would look cool...has anyone seen one with a stepside?
  20. Id buy new over used ......shipping for me would probably be the same from canada vs. the other side of the US.
  21. another ting that was suggested to me as i was running errands was to use a 1st gen Dakota bed... does this work?
  22. Well, I took the topper off and the 80's style bug shield. I think it looks better without them I went up and drove it around the property a little bit today, I like the jeep better than my s10 (daily driver) and can't wait till its on the road.... I now see the obsession. I thought that the jeep was bigger though but i had them parked next to each other and they are about the same size I, thanks to the help of offroader, was able to get some bedsides for her and as soon as i get the money and figure out shipping ill get it handled. here is how bad the bed actually is .. well actually its just the outside. passenger side driver side one step at a time I guess
  23. Offroader, I spoke with the guy at AMC 4x4 and he has what i need ....now we just need to figure out shipping. he said ups doesn't handle things that big i think size will be the issue here not weight. thanks for the reference and BTW he mentioned you in the conv.
