  1. Splines are correct and the input length will probably be correct. However, you can swap the input shafts between the transfer case as needed.
  2. Black interior, nice!
  3. I believe it would be safe to go with nothing in the old Renix Jeeps makes any sense. There is a big wire loom that goes outside the safety of the engine bay, in front of a hot radiator, and back inside.
  4. Lot more off both Jeeps. Drive train is about ready to be pulled from the XJ. HVAC unit removed from the XJ! No pressure in the AC system so this was a simple unbolt and yank. Passenger side door cut off as well. Getting everything cleaned up in the living room and storing it in an empty closet. Plastic containers for various parts from each Jeep. All labeled with labeled plastic bags for fasteners.
  5. If possible, get into the kick panel areas beside the footwells and unplug the speaker wires and (if electric) the window and lock wiring. The biggest thing to remember is that a complete door assembly is HEAVY. Either prop up the back end of it while you remove the six torx screws, or bring a husky friend to help you wrestle with it. I find it easiest to remove the two bolts closest to the inside with the door open and then remove the remaining four with the door closed through the hinge access holes.(This requires the fenders to be removed.) Then you just grab the door handle, the front edge of the door, press the door latch button, and walk off! Also best to have the window rolled down to avoid accidents.
  6. I was confused what you were doing with the extra gas tank until you explained the transfer switch. That is nice! I do not like the out of place gas gauge, but you could easily replace that with an aftermarket one that fits there.
  7. This is how I deal with stubborn Torx bolts in the door. Just cut the hinge off! Dash removed from the Comanche. Lots of little pieces of brittle plastic broke as it came apart.
  8. My original 1987 fenders will be up for sale soon once I get them off. Shipping to Minnesota would be costly though just trying to make sure they are padded properly.
  9. Same deal, anyone know if this is a member? I see this truck every day in a building full of laywers, bankers, and other offices. Garage filled with mostly new cars and trucks. Then, one day, this MJ just keeps showing up! No rust visible from the outside. They will be assimilated, resistance is futile...
  10. The 2004 to 2006 LJ rear seats are best for this. The track is one solid piece that mounts through the floor.
  11. I picked up a donor 1997 XJ for $500 plus my $170 in costs to go get it. The owner is a true Jeep lover and was really sad to see it go. Unfortunately it was beyond reasonable repair. Even I would not attempt to repair it! It was hit at 60mph in the right rear which sent the XJ spinning air born slamming the right fender into a truck waiting to turn. Luckily for my donor needs the passenger door is untouched! I promised that all the useful parts would go on to be used in other Jeeps and that the carcass would be properly recycled. My goal is to be ready to pull the entire drive train from the XJ by next weekend. I am fairly close to this goal. Bunch of MJ Interior Pieces. Anyone want to trade their grey interior for burgundy red? Donor XJ inside my tiny garage. Notice my space saving by putting the lawn mower under the rear. One good fender removed. Will have to source a hood, right fender, and header panel still. It took a lot of wrestling to get the XJ dash out. They are lot heavier than the previous generation and better secured. More front end disassembly! The entire front wiring harness, lights, and grill inserts are fine. Only a new header panel will be needed. Sort of touched the MJ. It can wait a bit.
  12. I would leave it pink and drive it that way. :O
  13. Jeeps and space shuttles go together great. :D (Just ignore all those non-Jeeps in there.) Bunch of former NASA employees and NASA contractors applying for jobs at our office in Huntsville.
  14. The license department at the court house is a giant troll. They want me to bring the donor XJ to the court house to make sure the VIN matches since it is an out of state transfer. Guess I am taking up two parking spots with a trailer!
  15. This was a posted on Craigslist and have to jump on it immediately scenario since the owner already had several people call to come today.(So I came in the NIGHT! Mwuahaha!) There are more damaged front end pieces than I would like, but it has the majority key critical pieces such as drive train and interior.
  16. Those work great and make sense in a MJ since the parking brake handle is not awkwardly underneath that spot like in a XJ!
  17. You will have to get a new rear drive shaft made because of the length difference.
  18. Thanks! :D I am a pouncing tiger when it comes to deals. I just arrived back from Tennessee scoring a 1997 XJ donor for $500. I drove to meet the owner at 12:30AM as it was first come first served. I go back later today to pick it up with a trailer. It is wrecked in the rear, which is perfect! Also it is 4WD so the MJ will be converted in the process.
  19. The oil filter on 2007+ Honda Civic Si models is on the REAR on the engine. It also has a metal shield that wraps around 75% of the filter facing the side of the vehicle it is closest.
  20. Follow up for RockinMJ. I bought this Comanche from him over the weekend. No fuel pump noise after diagnosing the electrical. Looked underneath, several rusted out holes in the tank! Disconnected the battery and decided to leave that smelly gas vapor danger for later.
  21. Looks great so far! I find it amusing you spent all that time carefully taping up the truck, but decided to leave the tail lights on covered in tape when they come off easily. :P

  23. This is a 25 year old floor that has been water logged for a while. The nasty moldy, slimy, and stinky carpet has already been tossed out in the trash bin. I will certainly have this floor cleaned, rust removed, and sealed by the end of the week while doing other things. Two items I learned removing the interior. [*:d77g95l8]The B pillar lights disintegrate on contact. [*:d77g95l8]Lots of old brittle plastic bits.
  24. LJ - It worked out well enough.
