Pete M
-rocker guards, rocker guards, rocker guards -solid recovery points front and rear -better rear axle -gears (I assume this is already in the plans since you're getting full carrier lockers) -high flow cat if you need it

DirtyComanche
At that point it makes mroe sense to do a SBC swap. It's not jeep; but the 4.0 wasn't ment for the drag strip. Or an AMC 360 if you've got to keep it Jeep. But anyways, axles first. Better rear, and possibly a front. Depending...
Pete M
And if you've got a manual trans, you'll need to upgrade it too so you don't destroy it. And that will require that you get a matching 23 spline t-case. It's the snowballing of expenses and swapping that makes this hobby so darn expensive.
mainemj
yea but beating a cheyv v8 with a jeep I6 is what I want to do who wants to beat a chevy in a chevy wearing a jeep body
mainemj
another thing I want is the altas 4spd transfer case
DirtyComanche
Well then, guess you'll have to build an aluminum head 4.6 stroker. That'll get the job done. Pricey though. Atlas = 3 grand. There's a lot of thigns I'd get before an atlas.
Oizarod115
I'm fairly sure the ho head won't work on a renix 4.0 could be wrong.
DirtyComanche
It will, you just need a new (HO) exhaust manifold if you want things to work right. Or is it a HO intake manifold you want? Hell, I cand't remember. The 2000+ (I think) intake flows better than the stock HO/renix ones, worht some HP. But I think you want that aluminum head that somebody makes... pingpong
In my opinion if you want a rig to beat a chevy ford or dodge build one of them. A MJ is not a drag truck. As for your plan to build up your rig, there are better lifty kits out there then the RE one. I would also focus on stronger axles, there are a few of us here who can give you personal experiences in what works, and what you will be wasting money on. As for the engine mods... There is no replacement for displacement. I would personally choose to build a vortec 4.3 bore it stroke it, and maybe put some nitrious on it to make it a true stop light beater
mainemj
what other good lift kits are avalible for my mj
DirtyComanche
Build it yourself. Get some coils, a quality track bar, a long-arm setup of your choice (apparently TNT customs will fit) or build your own long arms, stainless brake lines, spring over the rear, a bunch o' shocks... Or see if TNT customs offers a full kit. I think they are the best long arms out there. Asides from building your own, that is.
pingpong
By far TNT has one of the best kits out there :brows: Followed closely by Clayton. Fabbing your own would not be hard if you have any type of fabbing skills or know a skilled shop able to do it. There is nothing really wrong with the RE kit except it is a short arm kit, that uses DB's and the DB's work great, but they will limit you in further quest for hieght unless you buy Adjustable arms, then they will ride like crap at a certian point. Now I will critic the rest of your plans Fiberglass parts  The performance mods you listed are rather inexpensive so I won't bash themExcept to say that they will give you only marginal better performance, and way worse gas mileage :brows: The OX lockers are great lockers when you convert the cable pull system to work off of air auctators. The cable tends to pull out the threaded portion on the cable, thus causig erattic engagement. A member on http://mpjai.com/phpBB2/index.php has Ox lockers, and can explain what is needed to fix the problem his screen name is Redrocket . Mastercraft seats are way over priced, try some PRPseats. Same style, you get to pick your colors, and way cheaper. Mine were 400 for the pair  The electric fans  Another club member who is really  smart did a complete spread sheet on this mod  , and considering the Alt has to work harder to keep your battery charge, thus increasing drag on the motor the gain is minimal at best  You can search for his post, he goes by Renegade. The key to any build is set a budget :deal: then make a plan, and decide what is must haves, and what you would like Then research and see if any one has run a simialar set-up. contact them and ask them what they would change. If they say nothing and their $h!t works flawless move on to another contact. Everyones setup has good and bad pints, and they should be able to explain them to you. Then build your rig. Once you start don't let ppl try and talk you out of what you have done ;) or what you have planned. Keep in mind everyones wheeling style is different :brows: also keep in mind that you will eventually end up on 60's and 42's it is just a matter of time :D :nanner:
mainemj
What wrong with fiberglass its more durable than steel and when it breaks they are easy to fix or replace plus they will make it look like a pre runner
pingpong
Steel replacemnt fenders are cheap, and easier to fix as all you have to do is unbolt and replace. They are more basher friendly as well  plus when you can buy them new for next to nothing, why spend good money on something that can be bashed. A glass hood wood be cool, but I don't think it would be much lighter then a gutted steel one :brows:
mainemj
yea but i work in a boat yard so having any fiberglass repair work done would be super easy then you figure i can get all the fiberglass parts for $780 the bushwacker flares would be at least $400 Also i need the extra tire coverage here in maine to be street leagle just so you know fiber glass can take a wicked beating befor it breaks steel wii bend way befor fiberglass will break
pingpong
just build an exo cage :D Then you won't have to worry about tire coverage  1200 bucks  for some fenders and flairs  thats insane :ack: Thats like an ARB 2 install kits and maybe a set of gears :brows: heck thats only a few hundred shy of an Atlas 2 t-case :D I would spend that kinda money on other mods besides looks  but all of this goes back to one thing... :smart: it ain't my rig
mainemj
no I'm only using the glass parts not the fender flares
pingpong
There are other ways to fix your tire sticking out further then the law allows :brows: I just pulled mine off the road cause I got tired of playing pretend that my truck was street legal :nanner: IN all seriousness, its your rig, and do what makes you happy :D My dreams and asperations for my rig are probrbaly totally different then yours
mainemj
basicly what i want is for my rig to sit higher than my buddys be dependable offroad and look like a pre runner And be fast!!!!
