Nice...but is that a hard enough metal to last? I though that the bushings needed to be steel.

 

I did to at first, but they say they use bronze metal all the time for bearings and bushings.

Yea dude, I've never heard/read anyone talk about this issue before, if this Carolina Clutch place can find you a bearing that'll work then hook me up. I'm mating a '95 XJ 4.0 to my '90 AX-15, so I'm in the same boat as you.

Yup, bronze tends to be the go-to metal for bushings when a constant stream of lubricating oil isn't available. And frequently even when the oil is available. It's plenty hard. (don't confuse it with brass)

Keep in mind that bushing only has friction on it when the clutch is pushed in, otherwise it and the input shaft are spinning at the same speed.
