sprtsfrk Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 I was on the highway, when I pushed in the clutch going about 65 mph, then it made this loud squeel/grinding noise. It happened only when i pushed in the clutch, so i figured it was the throwout bearing/slave cylinder. I got a new clutch kit, and installed it yesterday. I drove it around and it was fine, but this morning starting it up, the same noise came back. I'm gettin frustrated with this truck because every week something else seems to be wrong w it. What could be the cause of this issue?
Oizarod115 Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 you check the clutch master cylinder? theyre prone to going out but ive never heard of it makin noise... just a thought. -nick
sprtsfrk Posted May 12, 2006 Author Posted May 12, 2006 The noise it makes is from the slave cylinder/ throwout bearing meeting with the pressure plate. It goes in and out of gear real harsh. So I think you're right with the master cylinder. But would this really cause the meet up of these two things w this grind?
Oizarod115 Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 i really don't know I'm new to standards. i would think something is messing up somewhere else. maybe pete or somebody will help you out cause idk. -sorry nick
DirtyComanche Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 What 5spd? Pre 89 4.0L? It might not be the clutch...
sprtsfrk Posted May 13, 2006 Author Posted May 13, 2006 The manche is a 1988 jeep pioneer, 4.0L 5speed, I believe it has the peuguot trans(sp?)
sprtsfrk Posted May 14, 2006 Author Posted May 14, 2006 It looked good, no sliding, but the new kit didn't come with a new pilot bearing, is this common? You wud think that it would come with it wudnt u?
sprtsfrk Posted May 16, 2006 Author Posted May 16, 2006 thankz guys! well i don't know what happened, but for the past few days the noise has disappeared. Its not present at any time during the drive. I think my manche is just haunted...
