mvusse
Just replaced my track bar bracket (old one was bent and had a broken weld), track bar (ball joint was messed up/wore out on the old one) and ps lca. When I got the old one off and held it sideways, both steel bushing fell out... Now my front axle is finally centered like it should be, and hopefully no more death wobble. With the axle over 3/8" from where it was, my steering wheel is almost 1/4 turn past straight when driving straight, but it turns the same amount both directions before the stops. So the question is: what do I adjust to get the steering wheel pointing correctly? I guess the drag link could do it, but then I'd be able to turn sharper one direction than the other, right? So that leaves either the steering wheel itself, or where the shaft hooks up to the steering box, if that even is adjustable. Next up (probably this weekend) is the gas tank. Wildman
Had to dig real deep.......but I found the posts- http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopi ... ring+wheel Yes, it's the drag link that center's up the steering wheel And good luck on that pile of parts :D
mvusse
That article is about adjusting the drag link. But won't adjusting the drag link affect the stops? Never looked at the steering system closely yet. Are the stops built into the steering box, or are they external? If external, where are they at, and can they be adjusted? They are external, on the front of the axle, about 3-4 inches in from the yoke. if there not froze up, you can adjust the extrema turns. There just a bolt taped into the axle. Adjusting the drag link should not affect the stops.
mvusse
All right then. I'll adjust the drag link after work tomorrow Wildman: Thanks for the parts and meeting me halfway. I worked off breakfast with a 20 mile bicycle ride on the greenway trail there, and got burnt to a crisp. Entire head (maybe a hat wouldn't be such a bad idea now that I have no hair anymore) and neck. Average mileage for 215 miles was 21 mpg. Better than I expected. 8)

But the toe adjustment must be done first to center the tie rod.

Eagle
That article is about adjusting the drag link. But won't adjusting the drag link affect the stops? Simple answer -- no. Adjusting the drag link is how you center the steering wheel. It will not affect the stops.
