Its already wired in for the stock setup but I want to be able to control it. No real reason, I just like being able to control my rig the way I like. hints, tips? where's the best power source or can I just slam a switch in there as a splice? If it's already wired in for the stock system, you have a temp sensor (I think in the lower radiator on Renix models) that applies either a ground or 12V (when it senses a temp around 215*) to the coil side of your existing fan relay, energising your fan. The relay coil side is the low amp side, not the load side, so you don't have to mess around with additional relays and/or HD high amp switches. Just locate the output wire of the temp sensor that goes to the aux fan relay coil and parallel in your manual switch to apply either a ground or 12V, which the Renix uses. I just used an XJ rear defroster dash switch. Simple and works well. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Geonovast Posted April 8, 2008 Share Posted April 8, 2008 I did it in my 88 XJ when the fan stopped working after the motor went back in. Ran a wire from the acc spot on the fuse box, to a toggle, to the fan, ground to the chassis. Just left if on all the time, never had a problem. Oizarod115 Posted April 9, 2008 Share Posted April 9, 2008 on my 89 there s a relay on the inside of the passenger fender. the orange wire going into the relay is the ON wire wire a 12v through a switch to that wire and viola! the e-fan should come on.
