Tracker Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Another forum, unrelated to vehicles, had these posted. Was this made by Jeep or is it some foreign Jeep-like knockoff military thing? :dunno:
xjcrazy09 Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 If you look underneath it, It sure does leak like a jeep :D
Eagle Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 The vehicles in the first post look like the ambulance/courier version of the Ford M151 MUTT, which was the all-independent suspension utility vehicle that replaced the Willys Jeep in the U.S. military. That's what we had in Vietnam. It was supplanted by the Humvee. The MUTT was so unstable and so prone to turning over that the Department of Defense will not sell them as complete vehicles. They are auctioned as parts only (on the hoof), and if you buy one you have to cut it in half with a torch before you are allowed to remove it from the vehicle depot where it is stored. http://www.chooseyouritem.com/classics/ ... 38628.html http://www.4wdonline.com/Mil/M151/M151.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M151_MUTT

I'd say that's it alright, judging by the pics on one of those links. I don't think I've ever seen one, whole at least. It doesn't bother me that it's a POS and all; seeing that it was a Ford.
Galford Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 http://www.olive-drab.com/od_mvg_www_jeeps_m151.php3 M151........I had to ask someone else to get the answer!
LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Never mind I was thinking of the Mighty Mite.. We had 3 of these growing up. Wish my father wasn't stupid and kept them. One of the coolest "offroad" type things we've ever had. He sold them to put more money into his FJ40.
