Hi,

I need to buy a 1989 Jeep Comanche PU Repair manual, original factory, not after market. Can someone point me in the right direction for this.

Thanks

Thanks for the information. since the mechanic/neighbor is the fellow who wanted me to get an original Manual and the reprint is available I will grit my teeth and go for the pricy one.

I may well send for one of the CD's off of Ebay also. Appreciate your help guys.

Thanks,

Becky :D

It appears that the afore mentioned service manual (hard copy) is a compilation of all Jeep models for that year (1989). My question is does this manual contain everything that was in the original hard copy FSM or is it something different?

I ask this because even tho I already have a FSM for an 88 XJ/MJ, some of the wire colors are different on my 89 MJ, therefore I too need to get the new, all-in-one, manual. :dunno:

Good question, I can only hope that since it says "reprint" of the original that it will be. I will for sure post to the forum good or bad.

There were some very minor changes between 88 and 89 (mostly wire color differences), but the 89 manuals are Chrysler's version and are still in print.

Are you certain? "The" factory XJ manual for 1988 was the 1986 Cherokee manual, with separate add-on volumes for the transmission; engine; transfer case; electrical system; and I think something else that I can't recall at the moment. It did NOT include the MJ, which was also a 1986 FSM (for the MJ) with supplementary books to cover the equipment that didn't exist or wasn't used in 1986. Bwteen the XJ and the MJ I think I've probably spent about $300 for factory service manuals, and that only covers the transmission and transfer cases I own. I haven't bought a FSM for the 242 transfer case or the AX-15 tranny because they are covered in the '94 XJ/YJ manual, which I have. I just hope there weren't a lot of changes in the intervening 6 years.
