onebigmj Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 I'm going to have to put an exhaust manifold gasket in my truck pretty soon and was wondering if any companys made headers for an 87 2.5? If so is it worth getting? Thanks a lot.
brigarpeon Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 The Borla header hits down on the crossmember area of a Cherokee and needs bent at the tubes some to mount up to the exhaust. There's a mis-alignment in their bend programs for the down tubes that I don't know if they've corrected. I plucked a Banks Header from E bay for a 2.5L Wrangler but it's not here yet let alone installed.
onebigmj Posted March 19, 2008 Author Posted March 19, 2008 are you putting the 88 on the road? No I'm using the driveline to put 4wd in an 87 2.5 sport truck I picked up. [/img] Not bad for $350, drove it home and the best part. NO RUST.
brigarpeon Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Pacesetter has a couple styles; 87 up and 91 up for around $168.00 in basic black, Armour coat adds 100
onebigmj Posted March 26, 2008 Author Posted March 26, 2008 I looked at some at banks and pacesetter and they list for 91-95 wranglers with a 2.5. Has anyone used a wrangler header on an mj? Do they work? I haven't found one for an 87 2.5.

I haven't found one for an 87 2.5. I just bought a manifold for a 2.5L 94 YJ and it doesnt have the port threaded for the EGR hook ups. So it won't work. (at least not for my 86 2.5L) Any other options ? I have another question.. What does the exhaust pipe piece in the left hand side of this picture actually do for the exhaust?
jtdesigns Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Thats the pre-heater for the intake,, theres a hose that runs from your header to a vac diafram to the intake box, It helps on cold start up.
