CrankShaftKid
Guys theres a 87 4x4 automatic cherokee in my area on the cheap. Now he says it doesnt have a motor but has all the other components, so assuming it was a 4 Liter, would it be a aw4/np231/d30 front? Havent gotten an email back yet about the missing motor or have been able to go out to take a look. I need to act quickly though, cause the price is right. Thanks! CrankShaftKid
It should be stamped on the tcase what type it is right? I asked him to identify it for me. Also he says it was a 4 liter.
BLHTAZ
There will be a round red & silver plate on the back of the t-case with the identity stamped on it.
LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW
Just look at the front axle. Vac. Disco Axle = NP231 Non-Vac. Disco Axle = NP242
Eagle
Actually, wasn't the Command-Trac transfer case in 1987 an NP 207?

Pathkiller
Actually, wasn't the Command-Trac transfer case in 1987 an NP 207? Maybe depending on the build date? My 87 definitely came with the NP231.
