CrankShaftKid Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Guys theres a 87 4x4 automatic cherokee in my area on the cheap. Now he says it doesnt have a motor but has all the other components, so assuming it was a 4 Liter, would it be a aw4/np231/d30 front? Havent gotten an email back yet about the missing motor or have been able to go out to take a look. I need to act quickly though, cause the price is right. Thanks!
CrankShaftKid Posted March 17, 2008 Author Posted March 17, 2008 It should be stamped on the tcase what type it is right? I asked him to identify it for me. Also he says it was a 4 liter.
BLHTAZ Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 There will be a round red & silver plate on the back of the t-case with the identity stamped on it.
LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Just look at the front axle. Vac. Disco Axle = NP231 Non-Vac. Disco Axle = NP242
Eagle Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Actually, wasn't the Command-Trac transfer case in 1987 an NP 207?
BLHTAZ Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Actually, wasn't the Command-Trac transfer case in 1987 an NP 207?Yes...probably right. I didn't notice it said '87. Good catch.
Pathkiller Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Actually, wasn't the Command-Trac transfer case in 1987 an NP 207? Maybe depending on the build date? My 87 definitely came with the NP231.
