moparmatt
I am getting ready to do a small lift on the MJ. Cannot afford 6.5" now. So my question is with 2" of lift am I able to still use my stock shocks? Hopefully this setup will be temporary. DrThunder
no, maybe you could get away with the fronts but i know with the rears i had to raise the mounts 2". Before i raised them i only had about a 1/2" of droop so whenever i hit a bump there was a massive bang from the rear end when the shocks maxed
mvusse
Autozone and I imagine other parts stores sell inexpensive 2" and 3" shock extensions. They just screw onto the top of the shock and only cost a few bucks. Not a long term solution, but you did say it was only temporary. I ran them on my F100 for about a year no problem. Pete M
How old are the stock shocks? Maybe it's time to replace them anyway.
moparmatt
How old are the stock shocks? Maybe it's time to replace them anyway. Fairly new, the PO changed them when he first bought it. He only owned the MJ for 6 months. I had it 3 months. So they are less than about a year old. I will look around for some extensions. I guess I cold make some out of old XJ rear swaybar brackets. 89eliminator
sorry, i thought he was just doing the front when i read it  i did a 2in lift on the front of my manche and the shocks were fine, I'm not sure if the backs would need to be changed out.
