wiring harness questions

Recommended Posts

Pulled a wiring harness off an 88 4.0/AW4 MJ in the ‘yard today, and have a couple of connectors I need to identify. The MJ had been picked over a bit before I got there and some stuff was missing….I’ve got everything figured out except three connectors to the manifold/TB area, and two connectors under the manifold, in the same loom as the knock sensor.

First, the three on top of the manifold. One is a 4-wire connector:

Blue/yellow tracer

Green/black tracer

Purple/black tracer

Red/yellow tracer

One is a 3-wire flat connector:

Yellow/green tracer

Brown/white tracer

Red/yellow tracer

And one is a 3-wire square connector:

Light gray/black tracer

Red/no tracer

Tan/pink tracer

The others are below the manifold, in the same loom as the knock sensor:

2-wire connector:

Tan

Brown/white tracer

3-wire connector (is this the O2 sensor connector?):

Orange

Gray

Black

BTW....here's the whole mess. Took me about 2 hours to pull it all (once I figured out how to get it seperated and pulled thru the front clip :D Got the whole harness, radiator support, fan shroud, ECU, throttle cable and linkage for $50......

Hey Jeff, if you don't have one already, now is the time to invest in an electrical FSM for your rig. It has pics of all the harnesses with all the connectors labeled. Will be the best $$ you ever spent mate.

Thanks guys.....top ones are verified as IAC and TPS (I only need the one becuase of a manual trans). Bottom one still in question is either MAT or coolant temp (thinking it's the MAT, but then I don't know where the coolant temp is now...gonna have to run back down and look at donor vehicle again in the morning to verify)

I do see an FSM in my future, very soon!

"Dis is gonna be fun" :D

Jeff
