komanche Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 can anyone tell me if the piping angles/length are the same from the cat-back/muffler on mj's as the xj's, or would mods have to be made for the comanche? thanks for any help

Wildman Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 The Comanche tail pipe dumps out the side, behind the right rear tire. The Cherokee tail pipe runs straight out to the rear bumper. It can be used to save some $$, but I think an extension needs to be added to the tail pipe to clear the bumper. That is if you have a short wheel base. Long wheel base, you also need an extension at the muffler to clear the axle.
Eagle Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Even the short wheelbase Commanche has a longer wheelbase than the Cherokee. I don't think an XJ tailpipe will work in any MJ.
Wildman Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Totally agree with you Eagle ;) But as a cost effect way XJ tail pipe ($13+/-) and a MJ tail pipe ($48+/-) couple of extension pipes ($3) and a few extra clamps, not having the tail pipe kosher. What's available, well, anything can be 'made to work' (Most times) :roll:
