Officialstorm_chaser Posted May 19 Posted May 19 in your opinion what jeep would be best for storm chasing? I was thinking about making a replica of jo's jeep from twister for chasing but not sure if I'll go that route yet. I have been chasing for a while now and planning on making a full twister themed convoy for certain times of the year (like the twister event in Oklahoma) and I plan on making jo's 1982 jeep j10 from twister as well as bills dodge, and Tyler's truck. any way someone would be able to send me a list of things they'd recommend for the vehicles to be as close as possible (will accept non chaser answers as well as chaser answers)
89 MJ Posted May 20 Posted May 20 What do you need the vehicle to do? Performance, space, etc.. If money is no object, I’d get a Wrangler 392, Ram TRX, or a Raptor R. Off road capable, yet fast enough to get you out of harms way should the storm turn on you. If you want to build a Jeep, I’d look at an SJ Cherokee Chief and then add a set of 1 ton axles, a 4 link at least in the front, and an LS engine.

I need the vehicle to go off-road whenever possible with no problems, I also need a vehicle for it to be able to have roughly 1,000 pounds on weight in the bed of the truck and still be able to have traction and no problems
pizzaman09 Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Your probably on the right path looking at an old full sized Jeep or a modern Gladiator. Both would take different types of modifications to get what you need. The off road chops of a new Gladiator will be excellent out of the box but they have limited cargo capacity so you'd need to work more on dealing with your gear. An old J10 will have the capacity but smaller cabin and probably need more modifications to make it really good off road.
