hgeranium
For the past few days the battery hasn’t been hooked up while I diagnosed and fixed my starter issues. Now that I’m driving it the shifting patterns are very different. It’s up shifting much slower or not at all in times where it always would in the past. I know this is an old transmission but it’s still pretty advanced for its time, does it have a working memory that gets wiped like many newer transmissions do with the battery unhooked? Instead of shifting to fourth gear it will just stay in third at about 2000rpm a lot of times. It’s not a big deal but with how gas prices are makes me cringe when I see that
llhat
a WAG here, but may be more related to the Transmission side of the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), like slightly dirty contacts inside. i've seen some strange behavior at times, feathering the throttle a bit seemed to make a slight change and effect a shift I've intentions to cut into the ground wire on both sides of TPS ( tee into the existing wire) and bond them to the intake hoping to improve the ground signal. Pete M
do you have a power button on the dash?

I did switch it to power for a bit and it definitely down shifts more aggressively, so the switch is still definitely working. It’s not super serious it’s just annoying how long it takes for it to upshift now when I never had issues with it before
