And just for reference.

3.07 - used with 4.0L engine / manual transmission

3.55 - used with 4.0L engine / automatic transmission

4.10 - used with 2.5L engine usually (not always, but 90% of the time)

4.56 - rare but can be found on some older (~ 89 ~) models with 2.5L engine and auto transmission

Better, still room for improvement though. :laughin:

I figured 4.10s on the 2.5, but I was worried I had 3 oh sebens on the D44 cuz at 65-70mph w/30x9'5s she's only turning about 2100-2200 revs. can't imagine w/tow pkg anyone would have put those in there though. 355s i think are perfect for my use. a little help on mpg and still able to tow or haul 3 scoops of mulch!

Thanks again...........

3.55 - used with 4.0L engine / automatic transmission and 2.5 with 4 Speed manual transmission

4.10 - used with 2.5L engine with 5 Speed manual transmission

My red truck has a 2.5 / 3.55 because it originally came with a 4 speed.

They did that, because with 4.10s and a 5 speed, your final drive is about the same as 3.55 with a 4 speed.

With 3.07s on stock tires you'd be turning about 2k at 65 mph. So at bigger tires it would be considerably less.

Believe me, the 2.5 is a dependable little motor, but I seriously doubt it could turn 30's with 3.07. Mine has a little trouble sometime turning stock comanche tires at 70mph+ in 5th with 3.55.

You may want to double check that. I'm 120% sure that my 2.5L 4 speed has 4.10 gears in it from the factory...

Is the 4-speed factory? :D

Just kidding. Lots of crazy things happened back in the day.

The rule of thumb is that 2.5L + AX4 = 3.55 gears. But the only way to know for sure is to check.
