eaglescout526
So are you wanting to convert from Renix to HO?
Chris86
Yes they said all I would have to do was change the outside harness fuel pump and motor brackets and sensors
eaglescout526
I don’t hear about many converting from TBI to HO so this will be neat. I recommend looking at 4.0 Renix to HO swaps since it should be the same just minus 2 cylinders.
Chris86
But if I go to the 4.0 what all would I have to swap over i know the motor and tranny and transfer case as well i believe and possibly the rear end whats your thoughts see if have found all kinds of 4.0 I can't find the right 2.
eaglescout526
You’ll need everything from the donor Jeep to swap the drive train. Trans will not bolt up from 2.5 to 4.0. However if your just trying to do a block swap, any 2.5L should bolt in. But going HO is less steps than dropping in a 4.0. Oh and yours being an 86 there’s a 50/50 chance the firewall will be ready for the 4.0. And you’ll also have to swap the front end to get the 4.0 radiator in there. Yeah you’re better off keeping the 2.5.
Chris86
Yeah I believe i will keep the oh 2.5 and just swap out the harness thats alot easier lol and also another quick question the metal vacuum lines that run into the throttle body can those be taken out and replaced with standard size vacuum hoses i mean the proper sizes or do they have to be metal
eaglescout526
You can replace those with any size vac line you want. Doesn’t have to be metal but might last longer if they are.
Chris86
Ok thank you and where can I find the right fuel pump for my truck everyone says no more than 15 psi but when you order the pump it shows 90 psi and on some they just offer a inline pump 4 to 6 psi got me all confused
eaglescout526
I think 90 PSI is just the highest it can produce and could be a pump used in other vehicles. The pressure regulator will take care of the pressure made by the pump. 4-6 psi is low for the TBI. Like you’ll struggle to go anywhere low. Course I didn’t think finding a pump these days was such a challenge.
