terryt
is a valve cover gasket on a 1990 MJ 4.0 easy to do
derf
Generally. It takes a bit to move everything out of the way and some of the bolts in the back can be challenging to get to. But it's not terribly hard.

87MJTIM
To follow up on Derf: the rear bolt is hard to reach. The engine tilts upward at the front. The back of the valve cover tilts under the firewall lip making it hard to get out (and especially get back in) the bolt. Somewhere I read that putting a jack under the transmission and raising the back of the engine ever-so-slightly will give additional millimeters of clearance. You are not trying to lift the engine; you just want to get a little more space between the VC and the firewall. Just my 2¢.
