I use my phone for everything.  the radio is simply a bluetooth connection to the amp to make the noises.  :D

I assume you're looking for something larger than the single DIN opening?

  • Pete M changed the title to Radio double din?

Depends on a LOT of things, you want a touch screen radio that fits in the DIN opening, look no further than this Sony.

What's your budget on this?  This will cover the HVAC controls, but I'm sure you could reach behind.  You could get some el-cheap-o Android head unit and, well you will see...  You could get a simple Alpine 149bt and have the Bluetooth hook up every time you step into the truck flawlessly, then control your songs on the radio.  A touch screen in this dash is going to be a nuisance, if you want to modify it you will lose the HVAC controls, or the best vent in the truck.

I also considered installing a double DIN, but was looking for in dash Nav. but after pulling apart the dash and seeing what I'd have to do to make it work, I looked around for pop down touchscreen Nav units... not many I can tell you, at least none from known reputable brands. But several pop down touchscreen units that fit a single DIN opening. the caveat is that it would need a spacer trim ring to have the headunit stick out from the dash trim about 1/4" so that when the screen drops to its fully open position, the back of the screen clears the HVAC controls.  but this way you could retract the screen to access the HVAC, and still have a touchscreen. but as I look at the usual spots, Crutchfield, sonic and the like, I can't find any. looks like the trend was shot, now the rage seems to be floating screens.

I personally didn't like that look, and ultimately opted for a Clarion marine single din for its weather band/emergency radio function. super handy out here in the PNW. its no touchscreen, but infinitely better than the old radio.

On another note, if you have an iPad mini, or one small enough to not interfere with any of the controls, Soundman.co has iPad dash mod kits. you could DIY, or send it to Doug to have him do the dashmod. https://soundman.co/collections/all. you could send quality detailed pictures and see if he can give you an estimate, since the MJs aren't something I think he's done before. he creates and stores templates for all the vehicles he's worked on. does amazing work. Funny dude. he also has a YouTube channel if you want some inspiration, or a chuckle.

Or you could blank out the stereo opening, get a quality amplifier that has bluetooth that you can stream through, and have a sleeper ghost banger of a system. https://www.sonicelectronix.com/item-196474-Kenwood-KAC-M5024BT.html

Diamond Audio and Audio Control both require little additional bluetooth receiver modules that plug into the amp, but they will also stream. these two brands aren't cheap FYI.

Hope you find the solution that fits you best, and that these ideas might assist in some capacity.

Cheers
