Scott Butler
Not sure where to post this. I inherited a 1986 Comanche X 4x4 from my father. It was his pride and joy. Unfortunately, it has the 2.8L V6 engine. But as I understand it, none of the '86 engine options were very good. Anyway, it is completely stock, in very good condition, only has 55K original miles on it, and runs well. I was going to sell it, but am discouraged by the low offers due to the undesirable power train. So may just hang onto it for now. Engine or not, it's a looker. Thanks. derf
Very nice. I've always wanted to do a project with an 84-86 MJ where I swapped over a 3.4/4L60 from a mid 90s Camaro or Firebird. Swap a good transfer case onto the transmission and just have fun driving it. But I have too many projects as it is...
89 MJ
Wow! That thing is beautiful. If you are interested in doing an engine swap, I recommend giving these threads a read.
Scott Butler
Thanks for the replies. I am starting to like the truck more since I've been driving it around. Almost everything works (except the radio). Now I need to convince my wife that four vehicles is perfectly normal for just two people...
fiatslug87
Was your father the original owner? If so post in this thread:
Scott Butler
Yes, he bought it new in WV in 1986. I retitled it in MD earlier this year so I could drive it here legally. So technically I am the second owner, but only by a few months/miles.
