livinjeep
Hey y'all, I'm looking for help trying to figure out the correct crossmember and/or trans mount setup. So I have a 2wd 87 comanche with 4.0, and it used to have the AW4. I pulled the AW4 and swapped in an ax15 from a dakota, obviously the mount setup and rear housing weren't near correct. I bought a jeep rear housing ax15 and rebuilt it, and went to install it and I'm running into trouble. I bought the correct manual transmission mount bracket for the ax15 for the comanche, and what I think is the correct trans mount, but I'm not sure if my crossmember is correct. I work at a chrysler dealership, so I have access to factory part numbers, but no pictures. I believe I have the 52002328 crossmember, but can't be sure because I have no pictures to compare to. Google brings up what looks like the same crossmember for both 52003929 and 52002328 part numbers, unless they're just similar and I can't see the difference. Anyone have a 2wd ax15 comanche that I can compare pictures of your crossmember?
89 MJ
The AX-15 crossmember is supposed to be roughly 1/2” lower in the center than the other transmissions.

Eagle_SX4
I am running an auto transmission crossmember with the AX15. The only mod I did to it was to slot the holes where the transmission mount sits. It lifts the transfer case up slightly and it is closer to the floor but nothing hits. If you have a welder you could just modify you original one to fit properly. *You may need to shim your rear axle to get the proper pinion angle*
