Curved bracket xj bucket seats question

Recommended Posts

I have a set of prestine  1992 xj bucket seats with the “curved bracket”. As I’ve been reading everyone says they will sit too high. Anyone actually have a set in there mj? Don’t want to waste my time moving the brackets from the bench if they will suck…

This is a question of ergonomics. It’s not even based on your height but more your proportions. If you’re taller from the hips up you may not like them. If you like more thigh and knee support due to longer legs, you may like them. I’m cracking up just writing this .

it is funny though, you’ll see some posts about x seat or x seat bracket is all wrong and is too high or too low. If you have two people both 6’ tall, they will likely have different proportions and will likely give different feedback on fit and/or comfort. Bottom line, they may work fine for you and that’s all that mattes, but you’ll have to try them.

Had them in my MJ.  I didn't hate them, but I wasn't in love with them either.  Yes, they do raise your sitting position up, which also does two things.  It puts your head closer to the ceiling but even worse it reduces the space between the bottom of the steering wheel and the top of the driver seat.  It makes it a challenge to slide your leg/thigh under the wheel when getting in/out.  You can rock the seat the whole way down to help a bit with that, but you have to readjust it every time you get in.

For reference, I'm only 5'8" (when I wake up in the morning anyway...), not a "big" guy at all.  I did appreciate the higher sitting position though.
