Speedometer again

I finally got my speedometer by grinding the cluster end shorter

it was as close to perfect as I needed

until it warmed up

now it bounces again I assume I have to grind it shorter? If so how do I know how much without risking breaking that plastic clip? This is my 3rd cable and I’d rather not buy any more

How much does it bounce? Some of it will just be the nature of having a speedo cable. 

You could go with the boxy Jeep electric speedo conversion.

Does your Jeep have a speed sensor for cruise control? It would be a sensor in line with the cable about 12 inches from the speedo connection.

it does not

someone told me to grind the cable going into the cluster which i did

and it was perfect until it warmed up then it started bouncing so they said to grind it some more because when it gets hot it swells up

any thoughts?
