Part prices

So been watching parts closey lately as I'm slowing gathering things for my WJ and decided to pull the trigger on a good chunk not what I wanted to do but my crystal ball sucks. Reason is I'm seeing more about a price increases coming in the next few weeks or parts that are "back ordered" while a new price gets figured out. Wondering what anyone else is seeing or thinking?

I think since 2020, parts have constantly been backordered, increasing in price, poor quality, and every company has terrible customer service. My dad ordered a full trunk floor for his 64 Chevelle 2 years ago when the company was doing a free shipping promotion on everything and it hasn't shipped and they just keep making excuses. It's the exact same price for every 64-67 Chevelle, Cutlass, Skylark, and Tempest/Lemans/GTO. He ordered a Holley Sniper from another car. Installed it per Holley's instructions and it will kill the battery within a week. Talked to Holley, sent the unit back to them, they said its normal and there is nothing wrong with it. It's a $2,000 system that isn't any better than a carburetor. And Holley owns a ton of companies too, all of which have gone down in quality. 

 

For the most part anymore, if I need an OEM type replacement part, I'll shop on Rock Auto because it always has the cheapest prices. Any other part I need, I look for either a used one if I can't make it myself, or I'll build it, depending on what it is.

I agree about the big companies. Churning out over priced garbage and when there's a issues no one cares. Sucks. Even some of the smaller shops I use can feel the push. I got a email yesterday from a place I bought my air lockers from. Basically saying if you're looking to buy something do it now because June 1st prices increase are coming and they will have decreased inventory. Now what happens then who knows but GD annoying AF.

I recently purchased an entire solar system for the reasons listed in this post.  I forsaw prices going up, and they have.

Bought a rear truss for the 9 the other day. Went from $350 to $385 overnight and now backordered.
