I can wiggle it with my hand and change the pitch of the noise. guess I gotta pull it out and swap out the seal. why can't fixed things stay fixed? Pete M Posted February 5 Author Share Posted February 5 the plot thickens. if I pull the return hose off the pump assembly and dump it straight into a gas can, there's no squealing. put it back on and the squealing comes back. Pete M Posted February 5 Author Share Posted February 5 it was indeed sitting on the bottom of the tank and causing the squeal. but the reason it was sitting at the bottom of the tank is that the product I bought has no method of firmly securing the pump. literally the sock at the bottom was what held it in place. and I didn't notice this now blatantly obvious issue. thankfully I'm still in my window for returns.
