GirsMJ86
how many rear leafs are under mjs? my 88 2wd has 3 and an overload. my 86 4x4 has 4 and an overload. so i was just wondering if there was any reason my 86 had one more. or is it just because its a long bed 4x4? also what did the metric tons have under them? alex
Pete M
Metric tonnes have 4+1. All others have 3+1. But plenty can happen over 20 years in the way of alterations. What axle is under the 86? Jeep on! --Pete

Pete M
Looks to me like there's an extra leaf added right below the main leaf. Jeep on! --Pete
GirsMJ86
hey thx i thought when i looked under it today something wasnt adding up right for the rear leafs. i thought that the 4+1 was metric mj only. who knows maybe it was added at the dealer or maybe somewhere after. I'm the 3rd owner so i don't know all the mods done to it xcept for the engine mods. thx alot. alex

pingpong
Mine had 4+ the overload, and mine was stock. So I don't know what that means :? But know I am running 7 leaves
mjeff87
are there two different mounting positions for shocks on MJ rears? I could swear my shocks are mounted behind the axle, not in front. Those pics just looked strange to me, with the shocks in front of the axle, and I don't have my truck here with me to look at right now.....it's sorta driving me crazy  Anyone know? Pete M
I believe that longbed shocks are in front of the axle and shortbeds are behind. Jeep on! --Pete
